About who needs care: Some dizziness - vertigo related so comes and goes. Starting to have memory loss. Hearing not good without aides.Diabetic (Type 1, I believe), hypertension, blood thinners, high cholesterol, and has a pace-maker.
Gets around okay. Cooks for himself and has been shopping on his own but I am growing increasingly concerned with him driving. I think he mostly goes to the store out of boredom.
He also has been going to a 24-Hour Fitness - not sure he still does. Tries to care for 2 cats. Seems to have problems making good decisions when having problems. Says he has fallen a few times but no injuries.
Ideally, someone would be there to check in on him during the week, make sure he's not left things running that should not be, check on the food in his refrigerator for freshness, ensure he's not missing appointments, possibly driving him to and from appointments and taking him shopping.
About the care needs: He's quite social and likes to talk about himself, so probably a good listener. He does get bored easily so someone who can find things to do when he does. He can be particular so I hesitate to say, "creative".
I don't think he requires specialized skills at this time. A caregiver might draw a different conclusion.
