Sunrise Montessori School (SMS) has operated continuously in the Davis County area since 1981, providing full-time, educational growth experiences for children between the ages of 2 and 12 according to the Montessori Method of Childhood Education. This method promotes education by providing an environment that is conducive to cognitive exploration, self-control and the social integration of each student. Materials that stimulate thinking and problem solving are made available in a loving atmosphere provided by caring adults who model behaviors and instruct students.

We endeavor to provide our children with opportunities to experience joy in learning, awe in discovery, love and compassion in friendship.
Classrooms are furnished with quality Montessori materials and other educational aids that support the Montessori Program. Enrichment activities and materials are made available to children for enjoyment and practice. Advanced concepts are made easy through a hands on approach.
The classroom, with its richly prepared environment, allows and encourages the children to independently develop and expand their knowledge from a concrete foundation in practical life and sensorial experiences to the wider abstractions of concepts in Reading, Grammar, Mathematics, Geography, Science, Spanish, Art, and Music.
Our typical schedule includes Spanish time, Montessori work time, lunch, recess, nap time (for those who require or request it), restful activities, and nutritious snacks.
