About the business
My name is Vanessa and I am a state licensed Family Childcare Provider in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I am married and have 2 wonderful boys. I have been caring for children for over 10 years in many child care centers. I started my own Family Child Care in 2011. I achieved my Child Development Associate (CDA) in August 2011 by completing over 120 hours of childcare related classes, a written and oral test and an on site observation during business hours. I am currently enrolled at Northern Virginia Community College to earn my Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development.
As a State of Virginia Licensed Family Childcare Provider I am required to annually take Infant and Child CPR plus 16 hours of childcare training courses, along with First Aid which is required every 2 years. I have also been fingerprinted by local and federal authorities and have had a criminal background check to meet all requirements of a Certified Virginia Childcare Provider and to assure my clients that they have their children in a safe and crime free environment.
My mission for your family is to provide your child a loving, safe, fun, stimulating and structured learning environment that will help your child to develop the proper skills that will turn them into lifelong learners.

Paddington Daycare is the DREAM daycare. Our son started going to Paddington Daycare at ten months (his first time away from home care!) and has been there for just under a year. We couldn't have hoped for a better daycare for him. Vanessa, Michael, and Erika treat him as if he were their own, and often when we go to pick him up, he doesn't want to leave! Not only do they shower the children with such love, kindness, and care but also they make sure that each child is engaged in developmentally-appropriate activities that help them learn and grow. Each week has a theme, and our son comes home at the end of the week with lots of artwork both related to the theme as well as related to numbers and the alphabet. We are amazed at the creativity with which Vanessa, Erika, and Michael design the activities and educate the children. In addition, they keep detailed daily reports for each child that identify what they ate and how much, when and how long they napped (they are miracle workers with the naps!), when they were changed, and what activities that they engaged in. We are moving out of state, and we're devastated that we can't take Paddington Daycare with us! In conclusion, we couldn't recommend Paddington Daycare more highly. With our son being our first child, we didn't know what to expect putting him into daycare, but now Paddington Daycare has set an impossibly high bar for any to follow. Thank you, Vanessa, Erika, and Michael for everything that you do!!

Our son was with Vanessa and her team at Paddington Daycare from 3 months - 11 months old, and it was a wonderful place for him. Sending our first child to daycare was an emotional experience, but Vanessa made us feel comfortable with her excellent programming and frequent communication. They helped our son learn skills like signing "more", waving and saying "hola!", crawling, cruising, and helped us through the process of starting solid food (and adjusting milk accordingly, oof!). They have a strict sick policy, and took seriously the health of our family and others' during the pandemic. I can't imagine going through 2020 without them.
It was a very bittersweet good-bye when we moved out of state, but it made our hearts happy that another lucky child could join Paddington Daycare. We miss the adorable art projects they sent home on Fridays! Highly recommended.

My daughter has been going to Vanessa's daycare for a year and a half and she is in great hands. Vanessa knew how to help my daughter nap when she was struggling with short naps when she was a baby. She helped her to learn baby sign language so she could communicate before she could talk, and has helped her to learn to eat with utensils and is now transitioning her to drink from a regular cup instead of a sippy cup.
Vanessa has also been very helpful in potty training and has helped my daughter to learn to use the adult size potty before she even turned 2.
Each day Vanessa sends home a report letting you know the food your child ate, what their temperament was, and when they napped, as well as their diapering/potty experiences. This report helps me to continue to keep routines the same at home.
And lastly, Vanessa does tons of adorable crafts each week that gives you the feel of a daycare center but you have less kids because of the home daycare setting. Vanessa is terrific and I can't imagine my daughter being cared for by anyone else.

Our 16 month old daughter has been coming to Vanessa's home daycare since she was 4 months old and has loved every single day. Vanessa and Michael love these kids like their own, and it shows! my daughter learned various signs and spanish words at a rapid pace, and Vanessa and Michael also took the time and gave my daughter the attention she needed to help her master her first steps! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Vanessa, she is so knowledgeable and always up-to-date on new studies and what kids should be doing at the appropriate ages. The food prepared here is top notch, and has definitely helped our daughter overcome picky tendencies. Vanessa introduces new foods only when OK'd by parents, and makes suggestions when kids are ready for new things and new lessons. I'm constantly amazed at the artwork our daughter brings home, and trust that this warm and kind environment has helped shape the sweet little girl she is turning into.

I found Vanessa's Daycare here on care.com and was nervous about entrusting my son to a stranger (I had been home with him and only had friends or family care for him up to this point), but Vanessa went above and beyond to help him adjust to his new daycare setting. She is very through and professional and I never doubted that my son was in good hands. She teaches the kids sign language, speaks Spanish with them, and has adorable art projects for them to do. She provides a daily report to communicate how their day went as well. I highly recommend her as a childcare provider.

My experience with Vanessa's Daycare has been amazing! I found Vanessa's Daycare on Care.com. I had visited other large daycare centers that claim to offer "superior service" at a unreasonably high price, but don't provide the love and attentive care infants should receive. I was becoming discouraged until I found Vanessa's Daycare. From the moment I spoke to Vanessa, I had the sense she loves caring for Children and I took the opportunity to visit her home daycare center. It was evident in watching her care for the children that she had experience and was very organized and abides by all county and state regulations and rules. From the moment my son (started 5 months) at Vanessa's Daycare he has enjoyed every moment and always looks forward to seeing Vanessa and being at her daycare center. Vanessa is very loving and always on top of the things my son needs at daycare. More importantly she provides homemade meals that are healthy and essential in the development of a child and follows a curriculum that includes library, reading to the children, artwork, music, and going to the park. I also learned from Vanessa that because its a small group of children they don't tend to get sick as often and indeed very true. I highly recommend Vanessa's Daycare for all the reasons I mentioned above and more.

Our 18 month old has been attending Vanessa's daycare since he was three months old. He loves going every day and it is usually difficult to get him to leave in the evenings. Plenty of learning, trips to the playground and library, singing, book reading, and indoor playtime to help fill up the day. I feel like Vanessa and Michael genuinely care about our son and treat him as part of the family. Highly recommend without reservation.

My two children currently attend Vanessa's Daycare. We feel so fortunate to have found her daycare years ago. My children are 4.5 and almost 3 years old and we have been at this daycare since August 2012. Vanessa prepares excellent homemade meals for the children and provides snacks. She takes them to the playground behind her house and even takes them to the library for story time on occasion. Vanessa provides a safe and nurturing environment for children. I know that when I drop my children off in the morning that they will be well cared for throughout the day. I would highly recommend this daycare.

My daughter has attended Vanessa's Daycare since starting childcare at 5 months old. She is now 13 months old and I have not one bad thing to say about the care and services received. My daughter is in a very loving and nurturing environment. She receives 3 home cooked meals per day and 2 snacks. There are activities throughout the day for learning and play. They go outside to a playground in the backyard and sometimes even takes trips to the library. Vanessa speaks both English and Spanish to my daughter and has even taught her sign language. Being a first time mom, Vanessa has been instrumental in helping me adjust by sharing her knowledge. She has helped with things like crib training and transitioning to table food. My daughter is excited every morning when greeted my Vanessa and her staff. It is truly a family environment and I would recommend this center to any parent looking for a childcare environment that provides love and a peace of mind when dropping your child off and heading to work.
