We loved our experience at GBELC. Ms. Cortinzia is incredible and we are so grateful for our time there. I always knew our son was in good, trusted hands. He really thrived there. His confidence grew, he made great connections with the teachers and other students. He learned so much, more than I had even hoped for. This place is a gem and I'm so glad we found it. We will always be grateful!

Great Beginnings Early Learning Center is one of the best Daycare Centers in the DMV. They have a comprehensive plan and curriculum which ensures your child will develop and thrive. They work with children individually to ensure they are developing the skills necessary to flourish in the daycare environment and beyond.

GBLC's staff are exceptional, they are patient, professional and care for the children in ways expected of parents. Our son gets excited knowing he will see his providers and friends. One of the things that give us peace of mind, is the detailed updates we received throughout the day as well as checkout letting us know what our Childs day was like. I highly recommend GBLC as a place to entrust your child(ren) with.

Our son attended GBELC part-time as an infant for about 9 months before we moved out of the area. We were always confident he was well-cared for. We were also confident in the COVID protocols that were taken, which helped keep him safe and healthy the whole time he was there.

Both of my daughters (currently ages 5 and 2) attend GBELC and have since they were 15 months and 9 months old, respectively. We are so impressed with the care they have received in their time there, especially since Ms. Cortinzia, the Center's director, came on board in 2018. She goes above and beyond to care for GBELC families and has been particularly impressive since the onset of the COVID19 pandemic in March 2020. She was fast at implementing new safety protocols and has worked tirelessly to ensure that the children and the families stay safe and are comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend GBELC to any family in the area seeking full-time childcare. The Christian Bekka curriculum is excellent and the kids are constantly stimulated with play and learning activities throughout their days.
Our son was in the infant class at GBELC and we were so happy with the care and love he received there. The facilities were great - the infant classroom is very spacious, split into two sides to cater to the younger versus older, more mobile infants, and has the outdoor tot-lot attached onto it which our son loved. The teachers did so much art, crafts, physical activities and sensory activities with the babies. Our son used to bounce with excitement when we arrived at the door in the morning. The covid-19 protocols were also very effective and so we felt very safe there. We were very sad when we had to move, but would re-enroll in a heartbeat if back in Old Town.
We loved Great Beginnings. The teachers are incredibly caring and we felt very comfortable knowing they were taking very good care of our son.

Great Beginnings Early Learning Center is the perfect fit for our family. With the great teachers and staff, both of our kids were able to make a very smooth transition and we've noticed so much growth in them since starting. They offer great art projects, time outside, as well as beginning academics to help the children introduced to school. I have recommended it to several friends and will continue to do so.

I recently visited this preschool for a tour. The teachers very warm and welcoming. They very informative about the program and my son really enjoyed the visit. I'm looking forward to joining. It's like home away from home.
GBELC is a great Christian preachool. I am very pleased with the new management. They have made so many changes throughout the program. Our family is very happy to be of a great program and we look forward to spending the next few years with this school.

I would not recommend this day care, because of the very poor administration. In the six months my son was there, he had 3 different lead teachers and it seemed the turnover rate in the other classrooms was just as high. Thankfully, the teacher that was with him during most of his time there was warm and caring and great with his age group, but she was threatened with termination (and possibly released after we left) because she talked to parents outside of the classroom - something the administrators forbid. We thought that claiming to be a Christian-run day care would mean this was more caring center than others, founded on Christian morals; that was not at all the case. They will incorporate Bible stories into the curriculum, but the Christian influence stops there. I waited over a month after leaving to review GBELC to try to cool off from a heated parting, but I still get upset thinking of the way they treated our family. The "director" is completely hands off and impossible to get in touch with, and leaves a young woman with no childcare background to run everything. When we began having issues, the director refused to take our calls and only responded to 1-2 of our several e-mails. He would pass everything off to the operations manager, who became very passive aggressive and childish during the end of our time there. I also worried about my son's development and safety, because there was often only the lead teacher in the room from beginning of the day until 6:00 pm with no aid. Kids were constantly biting each other and getting hurt, because when she had to feed, clean, or change any one child, there was no one to keep an eye on the others. I know the legal maximum in Virginia is 1 to 5 for this age group, but no other day care we visited before or since only has one teacher in the room at all times. I guess we complained about this one too many times, because eventually my son was kicked out for biting - even though he came home with bites from other children on numerous occasions. Without any warning, they gave us 30 days to leave and find new childcare; if you've tried to find a day care in this area, you know what an incredible challenge that is. Needless to say, even if you are desperate, I would try to find another option. All of the daycares we visited after and the one we since enrolled in have been considerably better options.
After putting down a $150 waitlist fee and a $300 security deposit, we were lucky to find another daycare center that was closer to our work than GBELC. We informed GBELC that we wouldn't be using our spot with two weeks notice, but they refused to return our security deposit. The ladies who work with the kids seem nice, but don't trust their business manager and his cut-throat business practices!
