New Jersey's Home Care Accreditation Program,
Since 1986, the non-profit Commission on Accreditation for Home Care (CAHC) has set the standard for New Jersey home care.
New Jersey Legislation P.L. 2014, c.029 requires home health care service firms to be registered with the Division of Consumer Affairs. As a condition of that registration, each firm must obtain accreditation from an accrediting body recognized by the Commissioner of Human Services.
The Department of Human Services and the Division of Consumer Affairs recognizes, pursuant to its regulations, the Commission on Accreditation for Home Care (CAHC) as an accrediting agency from which home health care service firms can receive their required accreditation.
Our organization is dedicated to promoting the highest quality and safety standards in the industry. We are the only accrediting agency that is based in New Jersey and operates exclusively in New Jersey; it's where we live and where our own families and neighbors receive home care. We understand the diverse communities of our home state and the providers that serve them.
Our mission is to promote the delivery of high quality home care services to the communities in the State of New Jersey:
by developing Standards;
evaluating the implementation of the Standards;
accrediting agencies that are in compliance with these Standards;
providing industry and consumer guidance, education and support.
Home care providers that share our commitment undergo our accreditation review, which allows us to monitor their compliance with established guidelines and industry best practices. Providers that pass our review receive accreditation, "a seal of approval" valued by consumers, payers and regulators.
