The phrases, "You get what you pay for," and "It's too good to be true," come to mind when I reflect on my experience at Kercha Child Care (which lasted all of 4 months). Based on the website, I was under the impression it was a more structured center-like home daycare. Even upon meeting the provider, whom is very likable and friendly, I was given the impression of a structured, engaging, and fun environment. This was not the case. The provider made it seem like she and an assistant were with the children all day, when in reality, the provider was there for the first half of the day, then the assistant was left alone with the children for the remainder of the afternoon. On three separate occasions, I stopped by and the assistant was watching adult programming (such as, Say Yes to the Dress, a soap opera, and CSI Miami) with the children in the room, mind you. Not only was this inappropriate, it was proof that my child was not being engaged. The home was ill-equipped for a daycare; they used an ottoman for a changing table, did not have an outdoor space large enough for running, no strollers for taking children/infants for walks, etc. My toddler went an entire day without using the bathroom, because when she was asked, she said she didn't have to go...she's two, of course she's going to say no. Not only did she not use the bathroom, she did not have an accident, which means she was not getting the fluids she needed throughout the day. Finally, the provider took on two 4 month old babies, and would leave the assistant (whom I am not sure if she is a certified/approved assistant) with 3 babies under the age of 15 months, which is against the law/regulations in MA. When I brought up the fact that the assistant could not be left alone with more than 2 babies under 15 months, I was lied to and then a week later, I was sent a letter stating that my children were "randomly selected" to go back on the waitlist while they tried to find adequate care...so basically my children were kicked out because I complained. They are even withholding their tax I.D. from us. So, you will find that the price is right - so affordable, and you will like the convenient hours and location, you will even like the women, but, if you care about your children and their development and safety, Kercha is not the right choice. Thank you.
