Responsible, Fun, Flexible Babysitter

(1)
I have always been passionate about working with children. I have babysat for twins, children with special needs, &as many as 3 siblings at a time. My experience includes children age 0-14. I graduated with a double major in Counseling and Child Studies. I focused on expressive art therapy so I bring a lot of creative art and movement-based fun to my work. I am certified by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and am also certified with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). I am CPR and First Aid certified. I have a car, clean record and numerous references. More about me personally: I am attentive, creative, flexible, and reliable. I love to be silly and am not afraid to get messy. I believe that children learn best through play and immersive discovery and I try to encourage hands-on learning at all times. Though I can be silly, I believe that children learn best with guidance and structure that changes as their developmental needs change.

We had the great fortune of meeting/hiring Olivia a year ago when our son was 6 months old and she has worked with our family weekly for the past year. Olivia puts the whole family at ease. She has a natural and loving way with infants and toddlers and from speaking with her prior references she is equally engaging and creative with older children. When we come home she is always on the floor with our son, playing outside, or coming up with learning activities (sensory play with shaving cream, identifying colors in blocks). Olivia is dependable and punctual. She presents as very calm and never seems rattled by infant and toddler behavior. She is a clear communicator and has good intuitions about handling situations/when to contact parents (rarely!) in the case of an unusual situation arises. Our son will be attending full time preschool in the fall however we will continue our relationship with Olivia. We recommend her highly and without reservation!
