As a new member of AARP, I am fully aware of the demands of the "boomer's" dilemma of aging parents and the care necessary for them. I am also aware that the boomers themselves are in need, at times, of some assistance.
Being a single mature woman I know that if illness or medical condition hampered my abilities to live independently, I would be looking for someone to help me get through that compromising time.
It is always my desire to maintain a person's dignity, independence and standard of living as best as I can while assisting them with errands, skills, household chores or transportation when it's not possible for them to do these things for themselves.
I have been employed for the past year as a companion/assistant to a wonderful 80-year-old woman who had some mobility problems and an ileostomy. I assisted her in bathing and did her laundry and light housekeeping of her living area. I also took her shopping, to the hair dresser/get her nails done and out to eat. Recently my dear friend reunited with a gentleman from her past and on Jan 14 2012 they are getting married and she is moving to Indiana. I am so happy for her and her fiance, yet sad to say goodbye to my "girlfriend!"
So I'm looking for a new "girlfriend" or gentleman!
