Full-Time In Home Personal Care Attendant
Avg response < 10 hrs
I began my experience caring for my father who was in dementia/Alzheimer's, typical personal grooming and daily exercise, reading and supervision of medicines. As time moved on, I assisted a retired Doctor with his housecleaning chores. Usually, I would tend to his home adding a sparkling touch of not only cleanliness and shine but much needed organization. Chores involved were stripping his bed, laundering his bed sheets, blankets and clothing, making the bed, vacuum cleaning his bedroom and dusting. Cleaning would include the tub, toilet, basin, shower, and bathroom floors. No, I did not forget the mirrors, also vacuum cleaning, sweeping and dusting the other floors and areas in the house, removal of trash and freshen receptacles, clean dishes and/or check dishwasher to put away dishes. His personal friends needed someone to clean their home on a part-time basis. I took the part-time work and ended up becoming a live in personal care attendant. I have supervised medicines, menu planned and prepared meals to include a special salt free diet. I do all the shopping and put away. I have maintained the vehicle by taking it in for checkups and lube jobs. I do all housework as previously described. I have read to my clients, driven to doctor/dental appointments, or hair, nail and podiatry appointments. I have hospice experience and registry work also. I have volunteered for a care center. I have current TB/shots and DOJ background check through Eskaton from volunteering. I have three other clients of which I have worked for doing miscellaneous cleaning and errands. One client is now deceased and she was an antique dealer. I have been a mother to three growing children who now have children of their own. I have 20 plus years of volunteer work with the Girl Scouts of America serving in a leadership capacity in one form or another to include supervision of adults. I was a senior coordinator for a volunteer program in Orange County, California. I was proactive in working with seniors at a health center and various volunteer venues. I enjoy pets if they are friendly and have a cat of my own whom I inherited from my daughter. He is a senior cat by the way and I am very patient with his moods and needs. I drive an insured truck and have therefore room for equipment which may need to be transported. I am familiar with most senior in home helpful aids such as toilet risers, walkers of all kinds, bed bars, shower seats, etc. 6 years current experience. Several licenses.
