About Laura

I was a medical assistant for 38 years and wanted nothing more than to get my RN. At age 48 I entered nursing school but a protracted illness knocked me out and then a move to a different state just made it untenable. I've worked pediatrics, Peds ICU as a tech, HIV/Aids, family practice and internal medicine and the last 8 years of my career in vascular surgery where I then retired. But... caring for people is in my DNA. In the last 3 to 4 years Ive worked elder care and have enjoyed every minute of it. I also care for both my uncle and my Mom before they passed; it was truly a mixed blessing. When not working, my husband and I like to spend time at Donner lake and Truckee where we enjoy camping and kayaking, we also enjoy traveling just for the adventure of it. And everywhere we go, so goes our little rescue Murphy.
