As a first time mom, the thought of daycare was scary. My husband and I toured Kids Connection and were so impressed. We decided to enroll our son and he began his journey in daycare in late April of this year. Well, it has been nothing short of amazing. He is so well adjusted and loved, he is all smiles when I drop him off and smiles when I pick him up. I go to work everyday confident that my son is being loved, interacting with other children, developing social skills and that all his needs are being met. The communication from the staff, the daily log of his feedings, diaper changes and naps is so crucial and has exceeded my expectations. The staff that work here are so special and we could not be happier.

Learn and Grow Child Care is family owned and operated by two sisters with a passion for educating and caring for young children. We began our journey as early childhood educators over 25 years ago. Both of us are mothers and NYS certified teachers, we have developed curriculum and taught in almost every area of early childhood learning including Mommy and Me, 2, 3 and 4 year old pre-k, kindergarten, literacy, and after school enrichment.

We understand that the early years of your child's life are the most formative and important in his or her development. We know that children learn best by doing and by constructing their own knowledge.

At Learn and Grow, we focus on the total development of the child instead of academic skills in isolation. Our Thematic Unit based Curriculum encourages active learners to plan and carryout their own ideas. We individualize our program to meet each child's needs. Our staff encourages children to question, experiment, and explore in our safe, well-supervised facility. We want children to share their ideas with each other and with us. That's how independent thinkers grow!

Learn and Grow has a strong commitment to respecting and celebrating each other's uniqueness. We help build a positive self-image for each child by focusing on what children can do now and what they will be able to accomplish tomorrow.

Learn and Grow is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. We are active members of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Childcare Council of Nassau and the Childcare Council of Suffolk. Staff members are trained in CPR and First Aid. We are Medication Administration Certified.

We'd love to talk with you about your child care needs.

We focus on your child's unique interests and abilities through hands-on active learning and opportunities for self-expression.

Our LifeSmart curriculum is inspired by Howard Gardner's multiple intelligence's theory. Our teaching strategies are designed to maximize the full development of each individual child and recognizes how they learn different subjects in different ways, utilizing their intelligence's, or "smarts." Our rich learning centers are therefore designed around eight "Smarts":

WordSmart: Reading, writing and telling stories
NumberSmart: Logical thinking, patterns, and numbers
BodySmart: Expression through one's body, movement and physical activity
DesignSmart : Visualization, building, drawing, and design
RhythmSmart: Rhythm, signing, and creating music
NatureSmart : In tune with physical world and living things
PeopleSmart : Working in groups, sensitivity to others, leadership
SelfSmart: In touch with personal feelings and thoughts

We also know education is not a one-size-fits-all experience. That's why we created the School Readiness Pathway, to provide educational options, empowering parents to choose the best fit for their child's abilities, strengths, and needs. You'll find individualized lesson plans in each classroom, in every school, based on the specific abilities and readiness to learn of those students. The result: Customized early education that's perfect for your child.

Our Beyond the Classroom Curriculum: Weekly Push-In Programs include: Grow Fit: Yoga, Music with Miss Laurie, who keeps us singing and moving with her magical guitar, and Spotlight on Spanish in our Two's, Preschool and Pre-K programs. We promote sign language in our Preschool and Pre-K classrooms and delighted to have Classy Baby Sign ASL teach in our Infant and Toddler classrooms. Our Preschool and Pre-K classrooms are busy with Handwriting Without Tears and ABC Mouse on the classroom computers and Smartboards.

However, to truly understand what we offer, I encourage you and your little one to come in for a tour to meet our Administrative Team, our awesome, caring faculty and visit our classrooms and playground.
