Hazel River Kids Care

14383 Hazel River Church Rd., Culpeper, VA

Starting at $100/wk

Hazel River Kids Care is a licensed religiously exempt day care facility available for ages 2-12. We offer both Summer Day Camp, Before & After School Care and Tutoring, and Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten Sessions throughout the year.

Our primary goal at Hazel River Kids Care is for children to feel safe and secure while they are able to develop through fun and creativity. Prior to being independent a child must know that he or she can depend on adults and a predictable environment. Children are treated with respect and kindness. We recognize that children develop at different rates and have different interests. Small group size and appropriate teacher-child ratios allow for meeting the individual needs of each child. Adults provide protection, security, stimulation, support, limits and affection. Children are given the opportunity to explore materials and participate in a variety of experiences. Learning and playing are not limited to the classrooms. Learning through play is viewed as an essential part of the curriculum and activities are carefully planned and implemented in an open-classroom setting. Children are free to choose from age-appropriate activities including art, music, language development, pre-math skills, science and nature, and dramatic play. Children develop self-esteem, independence and problem-solving skills as they make choices and assist in planning the environment and the activities.

Our facilities include warm and inviting spaces with quality learning materials, indoor gymnasium complete with safe equipment, spacious cafe area for meals and multi-purpose opportunities, carpeted areas for quiet time and discovery, kid friendly furnishings for instructional time and indoor fun area which includes a slide for imaginative play.

Daily activities include arts and crafts, music and dance, active story time, creative and center skills, quiet and reflective time, circle groups, sensory and motor skill play and much more!

Ms trish's home daycare

323 W Park Avenue, Culpeper, VA

Costimate: $112/wk

Hi Everyone. My name is Patricia Thorpe. I am currently a Fairfax County Special Needs School Bus Driver. My husband, two children and I live in Culpeper, as you can imagine the commute is too much. I take the children on the school bus with me, they are in car seats too much. I love driving but my son is growing to despise the car seat and the bus, I can no longer put him through it. I used to run an in home daycare in Manassas Park and I absolutely loved it, we fell on hard times and I had to look outside of the home for income. We are in a better spot for me to start my home daycare again, so here I am.

My hope is to start as late as January 2013 but the sooner the better. If I can find at least three children before January, I will put in my two weeks with Fairfax and start my daycare. I babysat on a part time basis starting as a young teen to 23 years old, I was a nanny for three years, I ran an at home daycare for two and a half years and I have been driving a school bus for six months. I am CPR and First Aid Certified.

I will provide breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks, along with beverages. I will provide playtime inside and outside (in a privacy fenced yard). I have plenty of toys, play sets, toddler basketball hoops, play house and much more. Inside we will have circle time, Leapfrog educational time, free play time and if parents allow their children to watch television, I will play Leapfrog and preschool Prep DVD's. My son and daughter love these DVD's and my son learned his letters, letter sounds, shapes, colors and numbers with these educational DVD's. He did not need to watch them 24/7, he would play and every now and again watch.

If you are interested, please feel free to email me. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
