Hello, and welcome to My Little Angels daycare of 20 years, where we teach a comprehensive curriculum. A Step Above Day Care

11401 Harding Road Laurel, MD

I have been a nanny to a local family for two years. Recently I decided to expand my business and I am now licensed by the state of Maryland as a family child care provider (this includes CPR/First Aid certification and SIDS training). My home has been in my family for 100 years and my mother was a family child care provider for seven years. The child care area is separate from my family's personal space and has a dedicated entrance and separate facilities (kitchen, bathroom, play areas, nap area). Families have described my child care as being bright, cheerful, engaging, and soothing. Activities include structured lesson plans, crafts, gardening, outdoor activities, circle time, independent play, and much more. I also provide family activities after child care hours. My home is smoke free and our four dogs are contained in our personal space. Children have no contact with the animals and the animals are never in the child care area - this includes the outdoor play space. Child care isn't just about someone watching your child while you are at work. For many children family child care is their first connection with the world outside of home and the first step in the education/socialization process. My role as a child care provided is multifaceted. I have to maintain a safe environment where children feel nurtured and loved and where they can thrive developmentally, scholastically, creatively, and socially. Babies start out learning motor skills, developing their curiosity, and establishing a sense of their surroundings. Toddlers progress to learning fine motor skills, potty training, development of social skills, and self control. Preshoolers start developing skills that will be used to enter kindergarten and that build self confidence through practical successes. To reach all of these milestones I make sure that all activities offer an opportunity to learn a new skill or build upon already acquired skills. Children learn best through play so I provide lots of opportunities for play that results in exposure to math, science, language, and reading. I also provide opportunities to experience art, music, cooking/baking, and gardening as these create opportunities for self expression, creative thinking, and attainment of practical life skills. Hours: M-F 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (some flexibility) full time, before/after school (summer & holiday), & drop in care available Breakfast, lunch & two snacks provided to ages 1+.

Heniek W says "Great, Knowable carring place, send your children here. I highly recommend. Arts and crafts, story tI me and tons of activities for all ages from babies to...

B.H.C.C. is based on the child development model which incorporate the theories of the great philosophers of Piaget, Vygosky, Erikson, Gardner and others. Learning through play is viewed as the cornerstone of the curriculum. Here children are giving the opportunity to explore materials and participate in variety of experiences. Activities are carefully planned and implemented in an open- classroom sitting. Children are free to choose from age- appropriate activities including: Art, music, Language Development, Pre- Math Skills, Science and Nature and Dramatic Play. Children develop self - esteem, independence and problem solving skills as they make choices and assist in planning the environment and activities. We offer a high quality bilingual program such as the dual language (English & Spanish). The proficiency in more than one language is a valuable skill to be cultivated in our communities starring in the early ages. My primary goal is for the children to feel safe and secure. Prior to being independent a child must know that he or she can depend on adults and a predictable environment. Children are treated with respect and kindness. I recognize the children develop at different rates and different interest.

Katie L. says "When I went looking for care for my infant son, it was important to me to find a provider who would regularly read to him. Bright Hearts does that and so...

Kids Kingdom Child Care and Learning Center values early childhood education as the foundation for lifelong learning. We offer child care services from 6 weeks to 5 years old. We also offer before and after care program for school age kids. We believe that each child is a unique individual and should be viewed, respected and treated as such. As the welfare and well-being of each child is paramount, we strive to provide holistic support of the child's exclusive requirements and interests in a nurturing, familial environment that fosters the child's development across all developmental domains. We believe that the child develops in an orderly manner by passing through stages of development, which occur in predictable sequential fashion according to his or her physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth. We provide experiences in dramatic play, math, art, science, music, language, pre-reading and pre-writing. These experiences nurture and facilitate growth at each stage of a child's development. Verbal skills are encouraged through group discussions and through one-on-one conversations between teacher and child and among children. These verbal activities enable children to develop the critical-thinking skills necessary to further learning. One of the teacher's roles in this process is to ask the right questions at the right time to spark the interest and desire to pursue a line of inquiry. Partnerships with families provide us with invaluable information relating to cultural backgrounds and heritage. Our teachers strive to build the relationships with families based on co-operation and a mutual respect for the reciprocal roles that each play in the lives of the children. Partnerships with families are developed through daily discussions, newsletters and meetings. Moreover, The Kids Kingdom open door policy aims to facilitate an open flow of communication while maintaining confidentiality and respect of the privacy and wishes of each family, resulting in the highest levels of customer service. Partnerships with industry professionals assist staff development and expansion of the curriculum to meet the individual and collective needs of all children. Needs based on cultural identity, additional support education and medical interventions which all require greater individual knowledge and supported cooperative teams, assures all children are facilitated in an inclusive environment as best as possible.

Care Member says "We were so fortunate to be a part of this wonderful center! We have a first-hand experience with their 3-year-old, 4-year year old (pre-school) and...

I was born and lived in Lima, Peru for 35 years. I graduated in Industrial engineer at Federico Villarreal University in Lima Peru. After immigrating to the United States of America, I went back to college (Broward Community College) and started taking English classes. Later, I received another bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Florida Atlantic University in 2008. Currently, I am pursuing a master's in Early Childhood Education at Towson University focusing on understanding the language, cognitive, physical, and social/emotional development of a child in the context of different points of influence, such as a multicultural, technology, the social/ prosocial and multilingual background. I came to the U.S.A with my husband and three daughters, who at the time were 5 years old, 3 years old and 7 months old. I knew it would be completely different for us and we would face new challenges. The most important challenge would be to learn and master the language, English. The second and third challenges, respectively, was to become immersed in a new culture and new traditions and to face the new and different education system. I needed to be prepared in order to help my children start school correctly, since they were all very little (Kindergarten age and younger). My eldest daughter participated in ESOL classes, but she managed to get into Mathematics Advanced GEM (Great Explorations in Mathematics), which is a program for students to move faster through math subjects than they would in a regular program. My other two children were identified as Gifted students early-on. All these events and experiences help me better understand the U.S. education system. In addition, to working with my children and as a college student, I had a lot of exposure in teaching. My experience as a substitute teacher in Florida showed me how the education system of different grades. I learned it is essential to make an impact early-on to help students thrive and be successful. As a teacher at a childcare center in Maryland, I saw firsthand how important diversity and inclusion is on young students. Now, as an owner and director of a small center (maximum 12 children) I see that children's education is not static but a dynamic process. My main goal is to make a difference in every child's future by bringing out their unique potential but always reminding them to laugh and to enjoy every moment. State Licensed & 5+ prior years experience.

Bun Bun Bunny is a Spanish Immersion Family Child Care. One of the joys of my life was to teach the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This experience allowed me to learn a lot about what high school students need to be successful in their future. When it came time to consider partial retirement, I developed some ideas about how to apply what I had learned to very young children. My method, which can be described as teaching through play, has the potential to equip children ages 2 months to 5 years with everything they need to succeed in kindergarten. My method increases the capacity for learning across all developmental domains: physical, cognitive, emotional, language, and social development. Children have fun and learn through sensory exploration, discovery and inquiry.
