I hold a Bachelors of Art degree in Pre-K/Primary education. My journey in education began in 1992, as a senior in high school. My first job was as a 6 to 6 teacher. While earning my degree, I worked in several areas of education starting as teacher's assistant, and working my way up to Kindergarten teacher and then a Title 5 Preschool director. I am grateful for my degree and even more grateful for the employment opportunities I had while in college. Soon after I started my first teaching job, I realized I wasn't fulfilled and I missed the preschool age group. In 2004, I decided to take a risk and start my own business. I am so happy about my decision! I absolutely LOVE my job and I am tremendously blessed and grateful to do what I do everyday.
My program is play based with appropriate learning materials. There is a strong emphasis on Reggio Emilia philosophy. Each child will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of tasks that will allow for a balanced daily schedule of individual and small and large group activities.
A large portion of our day is based on language and literacy. Children love circle time and read alouds. My home will become your child's home away from home, therefore we prepare your child for social environments they will have to encounter. We teach your children manners and social etiquette. We model appropriate behavior and language, always emphasizing being polite and kind to others. An example of this is our approach to meal time. We all gather together to enjoy our meals. We model appropriate eating habits and graces. We hold conversations with children and model family style dining. We build on team work by asking others to pass food and encourage all to try new things. We also work hygiene into our daily schedule. The children brush their teeth before nap time. Because we have pets, pet care is also a part of our daily routine. Children learn how to care properly for our pets. They learn to recognize pet boundaries and how to use gentle touches. We believe that there is a learning experience in everything that we do and we like to take full advantage of all of our opportunities to do so. The world is our classroom.
Facility Includes: Two classrooms, One large living room, Large playground (swing set, climbers, play house, bike path, trampoline, bikes, balls, water/sensory table and sandbox), 12 Passenger van for field trips,Child sized furniture.
** ALL PROGRAMS ACCEPTED.

Experienced former nanny and Pre-K teacher available for a family seeking full-time care of children aged six weeks to Pre-K.

I provide a structured day with story time, song time, and art, as well as indoor and outdoor play. Balancing hugs and fun with good manners and discipline, my parents appreciate the collaborative nature of our professional relationship. New parents, feel free to rely on my experience as you navigate that first year.

Our home is a four-square farmhouse, built somewhere around 1910, which was completely renovated in 2002. Offering a safe and secure environment in a park like setting on Mill Road in Glen Allen, we have a fenced in play area in the front with toddler toys and a sand box for little ones, and a separate fenced area out back with loveable Labradors. They are loveable, but they know their space is out back while the little ones are here.

This is my profession and I'm committed to maintaining an excellent reputation for providing a great service. For those of you who submit itemized tax returns I do pay taxes and will provide the necessary information for you at tax time.

My hours are Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Feel free to call 804-836-8075 for an interview. If you hear a New Zealand accent, you've got me!
Happy and satisfied references are readily available.

ONLY ACCEPTING AGES 2 1/2 - 5 years old. 3 years old and older MUST be potty trained or training almost complete.

Your child will be well prepared for kindergarten, with a great combination of curriculum as well as maintaining a schedule for consistency. From 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. is an organized classroom like schedule and these are some of the things we cover daily.
*Monthly curriculum that covers more than basics with worksheets and projects.
*Math-Touch Point numbers - a great basis for numbers and math. Base Ten Concepts - math system used by most school districts.
*Reading program that has your child reading (phonetically) by kindergarten.
*Amazing writing skills by school time.
Note: Former graduating students have all been quickly placed into the "Advanced Placement" classes after entering the school system.
I strongly encourage mastery of self-help skills, independence and socialization, however, play promotes progress for developmental milestones. A means through which children learn, socialize and express feelings. Play is critical to child development!
I put a lot of time and energy into my daycare/preschool, as well as the daily care of the children.
It is a great combination of home and school environment, minimizing the stresses of your child being separated from you.
The school curriculum and schedule will help in establishing a more relaxing transition into kindergarten for your child.

I would love for all ages to benefit from this program, however, I do not provide care for infants so that my days are devoted to the appropriate activities for the older toddler/pre-k age group. I am well established, with a spacious playroom, a ridiculous amount of toys and a large backyard.

The backyard includes play equipment (climbing, swings, slides), 18 x 8 sandbox, and plenty of running room.
We do have water activities in the summer to help deal with the heat, enabling outside play time.
