Jenna's Village

2550 Chamberlain Rd A3 Akron, OH

7 mi

Jenna's Village is the perfect place for your child's preschool experience. About The Owner Your own personal preschool teacher, at your service! My name is Jenna, my students call me Miss Jenna. I have my degree in Early Childhood Education and have been a teacher for early preschool through pre-k for over a decade. I became an Early Childhood Educator because I want to make a positive impact in this world. Children are our future. Molding them early to be compassionate, resilient, kind, and persistent leaders puts them on a path to greatness. That is my goal; to put your child on the path to greatness. My Philosophy At Jenna's Village the group size is small. I use positive redirection and believe in the power of praise. I believe that all moments can be teachable moments. And most importantly, I believe children need to feel safe and loved to succeed in their learning environments. The teacher to child ratio in Ohio Preschools and Daycares for the 3-year-old age group is 1:12; for 4- and 5-year-olds, that ratio is 1:14. Having taught both preschool and pre-k for over a decade in 5-Star Ohio StepUp Rated daycares, I know firsthand how unrealistic that ratio is. At that ratio, it will take two hours a day for the teacher to spend just ten minutes with each child in a preschool room. Ten minutes is not that much time, but in these settings it's almost impossible to do. A small ratio allows for more interactions between the teacher; interactions that are much more substantial because the teacher can take the time and interact meaningfully with the child. More significantly, it also shows the child that they are worth our time, building that bond between teacher and student. The preschool environment needs to be one of positivity. It is so important to offer an environment where children are taught and not punished when their behavior seems undesired. I do not turn a child away to time-out when they need help the most. We use breathing exercises to calm our feelings, talk about the problem, strategize what we will do "next" time, and make sure our friends are okay. Above everything else, your child will feel loved and cared for in this program. I believe the preschool years are such crucial years for a child. A positive experience can really foster their love for learning and give them the confidence and skills they need for success when they arrive to kindergarten! I look forward to being a positive impact in your child's growth.

As a mother, I am aware of the challenges that face you everyday with reliable child care. I have always loved caring for children. I have worked in my children's school in the infant, toddler, pre-primary, and elementary classrooms. My primary age group was 18 months to 5 years but I am able to care for children of all ages. I am infant/child CPR and First Aide, State and County Certified (title 20 accepted), and continue my education with 10 hours of in service training per year. Shining Stars Daycare is an In Home Daycare that has lots to offer! We have a Creative and Educational Curriculum, Art activities, Circle time, Singing, Dancing, and Age Appropriate Learning Workbooks! We strongly feel education is very important and loving is too! We do many educational activities throughout the day. Our activities coordinate with our weekly themes, such as: All about me, Ladybugs, Picnic, Family and several others. Our day starts with a very creative art activity, continues with circle time (which is where we learn the calendar, colors, shapes, numbers, and letters), then we head outside for some fun in the sun, and last but not least we do interesting worksheets that are age appropriate. I am a firm believer in educational activities that are interesting, fun, and exciting! The infant room will also be doing many educational activities! The children do an art activity, sing many songs, do lots of dancing, and read stories. We also work with them on their motor and speech abilities, as this is very important in their development. At Shining Stars Daycare we offer a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and two snacks. We do fun and interesting cooking activities a few times throughout the month and work with children on their table manners. I currently have one openings for the toddler/preschool room and two openings in the infant room. We have two children that will be starting kindergarten at the end of August and one younger child that will be moving to the toddler room, from the infant room. The center's hours are 6:30-5:30, Monday - Friday. The weekly rate is 125.00 per child, which includes all activities and extras. My name is Miss Amanda and I am the toddler/preschool room teacher. I have two years of Early Childhood Education and Care schooling and many years of experience in a daycare setting. I have always loved educating and growing with children.
