About who needs care: Our mother is 84 years old. She has MS and is confined to her power chair and scooter. Mentally she is super sharp but does get confused sometimes. Her arms work-Cannot stand or walk.
She needs assistance 2 x's a week for the following:
1. Help in or out of the shower
2. Washing her hair 3-4 times a month
3. Running the vacuum through her house
4. Helping her change linens on her bed
5. Deep cleaning showers or tubs, because she cannot bend down.
6. Any household tasks that she cannot do because she cannot reach.
7. putting away things that she cannot reach to put away
8. Walking her dog for 15 minutes around her property
9. Possibly running an errand of returning something for her to store or post office.
10. Possibly some light meal prep--but not sure about this.
About the care needs: Caregiver must have kind, compassionate disposition, but also be strong and firm.
Caregiver must be honest and trustworthy
Caregiver must make her feel like she still has all the decision making and independence--yet be firm with not letting her over extend herself physically beyond her capabilities
Caregiver must take and not wait to be told what to do or what to help with. Itemized list each visit will be worked off of until there is a flow of responsibilities that become second nature.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
