2348 Alice Street Napa, CA

Welcome to Stepping Stones Child Care! We are located in Central Napa on a quite safe street, we are a family of four plus are exceptionally wonderful assistant, who we regard as a family as well. We are licensed (#283008956) and insured, as well as a 100% immunization rate, staff and children alike. My husband, is a Paramedic but has taken leave to work here with me and make this place the wonder it is. We also have two boys, ages nearly 6 and 8, who are the sweetest boys, they love the babies, out oldest often asks to read to them and our youngest loves playing in the sandbox with them. They aren't here often during business hours however since they are in school and activities. We create and maintain a caring, loving and stimulating environment where babies and young children can thrive. We are very flexible, and once you're part of the Stepping Stones family, you have many benefits at hand. We are open from 7am to 7pm, offer date nights and weekends, and of course last minute emergency care. A "normal" day would be; children are dropped off between 7-8;30, so the first hour or two is playtime, we feed them wholesome, organic breakfast or snack if they've eaten breakfast at home. Then some babies take a nap, others do art or play, we then usually do some songs and dancing, more naps, snacks, etc... Then in the afternoon we play out in the back yard which is full of things to do, including ride on toys, a jump-o-lene with balls, a sandbox, a large caterpillar tunnel, a really cool airplane that is a teeter totter and great for the imagination. We have sensory tables outside where they can play with dried beans and rice with funnels and other toys, and a large lawn to run around on. Then we have lunch/snack again and do some pre-academic projects for a short time for the older kids (2 yr-olds); in that time I usually use the white board to discuss shapes, colors, emotions, numbers, and the alphabet. We do a lot of projects with art to connect the learning, we teach sign language and use it all day everyday while encouraging talking all the while. We also offer potty training, we always follow the child's cues and go at their own pace. Everything we do here is with full respect for the child and their own intricacies and uniqueness. We encourage open, full communication with parents and often give verbal progress reports. We also encourage nursing mothers to nurse their babies as often as they'd like and any parent who wants to stop by are welcome

Emma L. says "I can't say enough good things about Stepping Stones. Two of my children were in full-time care for about two years there and we had such a positive...

A Place of My Own

2590 1st St Napa, CA

A Place of My Own Preschool (APOMO) is a non-profit 501c3 organization which has served our community for over 30 years. We are licensed by the state to care for 42 children daily ranging from age two through six, providing care to roughly 75 families each year. We fulfill the needs of working and stay at home parents by offering preschool and extended care options. Our operating hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and we are open year round. We currently rent four classrooms and an office space from CrossWalk Community Church located on the corner of First Street and Freeway Drive. As a private non-profit with no religious affiliation our goal has always been to prepare ALL children for school readiness by teaching pro social behaviors and exposing them to the alphabet and numbers that will play a big role in kindergarten. We do these things through free play, music, outside activities, story time and planned small group time. We do not follow a particular curriculum but instead pull from all different philosophies, workshops and training we have attended over the years. Our staff regularly attends conferences and training, workshops offered through Community Resources for Children and college classes. We also believe in low teacher to child ratios and the value of parent involvement. We are run by a parent board of directors and tuition pays virtually all of our expenses with the exception of a few yearly fundraisers to buy the extras. Our children come from a variety of cultural and economic backgrounds. We have a good mix of families paying for child care and those receiving some kind of financial assistance.
