St. John the Baptist Catholic School has been a legendary community school for over 100 years. Our school is a faith-filled institution that has been educating students since 1912. We offer an exemplary education in a a Christ-centered environment. St. John's is fully accredited and operates in a newly remodeled 30,000 sq. ft. historic building in the heart of downtown Napa. We offer classes from Transitional Kinder through the 8th grade.
We provide a nurturing, educational, and Christian environment for children aged 2 through 5 whose ages, races, genders, creeds, and abilities are recognized and celebrated. In partnership with parents, we seek to provide a rich learning environment of developmentally appropriate opportunities and experiences to encourage each child's spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth. We limit our class size to provide the optimum teacher/student ratios which enhances the individualized program.

Child care
A Place of My Own Preschool (APOMO) is a non-profit 501c3 organization which has served our community for over 30 years. We are licensed by the state to care for 42 children daily ranging from age two through six, providing care to roughly 75 families each year. We fulfill the needs of working and stay at home parents by offering preschool and extended care options. Our operating hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and we are open year round. We currently rent four classrooms and an office space from CrossWalk Community Church located on the corner of First Street and Freeway Drive. As a private non-profit with no religious affiliation our goal has always been to prepare ALL children for school readiness by teaching pro social behaviors and exposing them to the alphabet and numbers that will play a big role in kindergarten. We do these things through free play, music, outside activities, story time and planned small group time. We do not follow a particular curriculum but instead pull from all different philosophies, workshops and training we have attended over the years. Our staff regularly attends conferences and training, workshops offered through Community Resources for Children and college classes. We also believe in low teacher to child ratios and the value of parent involvement. We are run by a parent board of directors and tuition pays virtually all of our expenses with the exception of a few yearly fundraisers to buy the extras. Our children come from a variety of cultural and economic backgrounds. We have a good mix of families paying for child care and those receiving some kind of financial assistance.
