Panda Bilingual Daycare is a bilingual Mandarin- English early educational childcare center combining the Montessori educational philosophy with Chinese and American language and culture. Our center's mission is to offer the highest quality care and education for children from three months to kindergarten entry. The Panda Bilingual Daycare curriculum is inspired by many of the tenets of Maria Montessori's educational theory and practice, along with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and our own unique features. The core of the Montessori curriculum is divided into four main areas: sensory, practical life, language, and mathematics. Many of the materials and methods we use are derived from her work. The children will also explore cultural, scientific and historical subjects such as geography, geology, zoology and botany at levels appropriate to their development. At Panda Bilingual Daycare, we encourage children to learn Chinese not only through art and music and literature, but also through listening and reading the Chinese children's classics such as The Analects, Tang and Song Poetry, which have been a part of children's education for thousands of years. These works of literature and philosophy and history remain relevant in our current society. The authoritative research tells us that exposure to literature from the earliest ages has significant and measurable results on brain development. Children thrive on being read to and interacting with books from the time they are born. The outdoor classroom is an important part of our curriculum. Our outdoor classroom is surely a playground, in which the children can run and jump and play together. But it is also a natural extension of their classrooms, in which the children will have the daily experience of learning surrounded by a bit of nature. They can spend time noticing the animal and plant life, finding a bird's nest, watching the life cycle of a butterfly, growing and caring for plants, as well as playing in the sand, balancing on tree stumps, lounging in the child sized hammocks. Children can paint and draw what they see on the outdoor easels and experiment with sound and music on the thunder drum and musical fence.

Easy Childcare

155 Prospect Hill Road Waltham, MA

I'm a stay at home mom with one child in middle school, one in elementary school and an almost 2 year old. I have over 5 years experience working in residential facilities with troubled youth ranging in age from 5-18. I have been a Girl Scout leader for 4 years with girls starting at 6 years old and now 9-10 years old. I started watching children at 10 years of age and have never stopped. I've had countless babysitting jobs, watched my 4 nephews regularly as they grew up, and now have children of my own. I believe in letting kids play and explore fully in their environment with gentle guidance, allowing them to have experiential learning. I utilize a healthy mixture of structured activities along with free play to keep kids engaged and excited. When the weather is cooperative, time spent outdoors playing in a sandbox, on a play set, at a water table, or just laying around observing is an essential part of the day. I try to make even the task of cleaning up fun by singing a song, racing each other, doing it by colors, etc.

We believe educating your child includes a well-rounded curriculum of music classes, dance classes, cooking projects and field trips. Children with music instruments--one of the many things the children experience at First Path Daycare CenterWe believe that an education that centers around experiences and excitement is the best way for a child to learn. While many daycare centers traditionally offer playtime and enhanced care services without a stronger emphasis on curriculum, our primary objective is and has always been to enrich and enhance the life of every child. Through our varied programs, your child (or children!) will learn very important life lessons right from the beginning. They will learn to be independent, while also learning about teamwork. They will learn the value of leadership, support, emotional responsibility, sharing, and more. At First Path Day Care Center, we have designed our curriculum to encompass many areas that will spark their imagination, encourage curiosity, and make learning fun so your children will be versatile and fully enriched. Field Trips are one of the many tools we use to encourage your children's love of learning at First Path Daycare Center.Over the years our parents have been delighted with the growth and nurturing that their children experience as part of their time with us, and were gracious enough to provide us with testimonials. We promise that as a parent considering First Path Daycare Center, you will be delighted with us too!

The program is usually bilingual between English and Spanish. The kids get to work with both languages, which gives them a huge advantage in life. I am very hands-on with the kiddos and love to play with them. We play music, we go on field trips, we do art, reading, and tons of engaging learning through play. For outdoor play, we go to the playground behind my home or the historical navy yard around the corner where the children can learn about history and also play in the water fountain in the summer. We're also partnered with an agency called Child Development that facilitates field trips for the kids as well. We'll go sometimes to the aquarium, go for picnics, and even involve parents in the trips too! We firmly believe that a busy kid is a happy kid! My favorite activity to do with the kids is art. I love working with different mediums and seeing how the children express themselves differently. I am so proud of everything they create! Something that is super important to me is nutrition. I love to cook and always prepare meals for the children that are healthy and filling. I even give parents food when they come to scoop their child up and they give me the best compliments! It makes me so happy to send the children home with a full belly. My overall mission is to provide the highest quality care that I can from the time they're enrolled in my program to the time they set off for school. I provide the educational resources plus the development in other areas, such as social and emotional, that the children need in order to be prepared for the future. And I do it all in the most fun way! When they go to kindergarten or preschool, I know they're all set and that they've developed a love for learning that will stay with them for years to come. I want to keep educating myself and incorporating the latest technology, lessons, and all of the new things that are coming out all the time about the development of children. I love helping the larger community within my home. I look forward to expanding my space over time and being able to teach many children over the years. We open at 7:30am and we begin the day with free play with a variety of toys. Then we clean up and wash hands and go potty before breakfast at 9am. We have a curriculum we follow to learn letters, numbers, colors, and shapes, before we go outside weather-permitting. We love to go out and be with mother nature whenever we can! After that, we come back in and wash up for snack time and prepare for circle time. We love circle time and reading stories. After that and some more free play, the children help with setting the table for lunch at noon, and help clean too. From 1 to 3pm we have nap time. For those children who don't rest, we have quiet play or we sit and chat quietly with each other. In the later afternoon we go outside once again weather-permitting and maybe go for a walk. Then we have puzzles, games, and singing until the kids have to clean up and get ready to go home for the night. It is a fun, packed day of learning and exploring for the children! There are many important aspects of Family Child Care to me. one is an engaging and development-oriented curriculum. This is enhanced by my learning of how to be a better educator. I am also incredibly attentive to healthy eating. I want to make sure the children are nurtured and that everyone is happy and smiling. I love that my program is family oriented. The children get the care and the love in a smaller group that they wouldn't necessarily be able to receive in a larger setting, yet the daycare center structure and philosophies are all still there. My program combines the structure and schedule of a typical preschool classroom with the comfort of a home environment. This helps children prepare for a transition into a kindergarten classroom. There is sensory play such as play dough or finger painting, time for pre-academics with letter and math games, read alouds, storytelling/story acting and other pre-writing activities. We spend a lot of time outdoors at two nearby parks to encourage free play and exploration and gross motor movement. We will have daily whole group meetings and activities as well as plenty of time for independent and group play. I encourage kids to step outside their comfort zone and try new things, even if it's hard. Maintaining routines and order is greatly beneficial and something I take seriously. Having clear and consistent boundaries and expectations makes everyone feel safe and respected. But while I firmly believe in structures and routines, there will be plenty of time for spontaneity and lots of fun! What is NeighborSchools?
