Seeking care for my mother in her 80s. Services needed: help staying physically active, transportation, errands / shopping. Looking for someone with 7+ years of experience caring for seniors. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be pleasant, reserved. Recently lost her husband after a long illness. Lives with her children who provide housing, meals, etc. But looking for assistance to take her to/from doctor appointments or running errands around town, including chores or visits with friends and family. I'm looking for someone who is patient. She needs someone who is positive and outgoing. She is always hesitant to ask for help because she feels that she is imposing. But we want the caregiver to have a go-get-'em attitude so she feels comfortable asking for help to accomplish any task. We need a very encouraging caregiver. She is generally very able bodied - walking, climbing stairs, bathing, bathroom, etc is all done by her. She needs someone who is able to shuttle her around to appointments or take her around town so she is able to maintain a sense of independence with her life. A clean, newer, comfortable vehicle is absolutely required. Non-smoker is required. And most importantly she needs someone who she can view as friendly support.
