Seeking care for my father in his 70s. Services needed: companionship, meal preparation, medication prompting, transportation, errands / shopping. Looking for someone with 3+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, support for memory care. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my father: he can be pleasant, outgoing, independent. My dad is a retired veteran who has lived independently since he was 18. Unfortunately, my mom passed in 2016 and he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2018. His disease is in the early stages, but he struggles with short term memory loss and managing things. He cannot drive anymore and it has stolen some of that independence from him. Otherwise he is a happy, chatty old man who loves a good conversation and watching sports on TV. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty. My dad would enjoy working with someone who reminds him that his illness hasn't robbed him of everything and that he is still very capable. He doesn't like to ask for help because he doesn't want to be a burden on anyone, so offering to help with things or insisting you'll help will help him open up to the idea. My dad enjoys waking through the grocery store and picking things out. He needs help making lists of things he needs and managing his medication. He can take them himself and read them, he just needs someone to check that he's following the instructions. Little slip ups have caused serious health issues due to him being on blood thinners for his mechanical heart valve, so we need help helping him manage that. He can be stubborn but when approached calmly and logically he tends to handle things well.
