Diane T.
Nanny For Newborns And Infants — Tucson, AZ
I'm a happily married, stay-at-home mom of a 15-year-old son. My son experienced a traumatic brain injury at birth resulting in left side gross and fine motor delays and disabilities, so I am very experienced with children with special needs and performing daily PT and OT on infants through toddlers. He is now doing great and is currently an A+ student in an advanced school. I am a part-time freelance technical artist (doing drafting of illustrations for patents and trademarks). While not required by our financial situation to put in any additional hours of work outside the home, I find that now that our son is in school full-time and involved in extra-curricular activities after school, I am missing the daily child care aspect! Aside from the specific physical delays my son experienced, he was (and remains to this day) a happy, healthy, intelligent, good-natured, laughing, energetic, and inquisitive baby. It was a great joy to me to work with him to develop and solidify all those traits. I firmly believe that positive interaction and attention contribute directly to developing a happy child and I am more than willing to take any child I care for on "adventures" to the park, to the zoo, on walks, to story time, etc. as part of my child care duties. I truly enjoy children and the "job" of helping contribute to their potential. I am mainly looking for a part-time position so that I can pass along my hard-earned skills with special needs and child development to another family. In my "day job" I am responsible for attorney-client privileged documents and drop-dead filing dates. Dependability and reliability are vital in what I do because corporations have millions of dollars of product rights on the line. In parenting and child care, I feel that dependability and reliability are equally as important because they are the very things that give a child the freedom and confidence to expand, explore and grow. I also taught yoga as an extra-curricular at our son's prior school. I taught K-2nd graders and that is something we engage in daily. I believe the body awareness that comes from yoga is very important for children. As a technical artist, I have strong art and science leanings and incorporate both art and science into nearly every day in some form or another. We also taught our (non-hearing impaired) child "baby signs"/sign language as an infant so I am comfortable in an environment which is also using, or would like to start using, this system for their child.
