We are a Montessori community with locations in NE & N Portland. Our environments are beautifully prepared for children 3 months to 5 years. We believe that quality childcare and early education is a collaboration between caregiver, family, child and classroom. The children at Peace Tree School benefit from trained and experienced caregivers, a partnership with families and a environment that fosters discovery and exploration. Our individualized and nurturing approach to early education is supported by the Montessori method and Magda Gerber's concept of educating, also referred to as Resources for Infant Educarers or RIE. At Peace Tree, children are given the opportunity to thrive at their own pace and in their own way. Environments are designed to reflect the child's home environment with ample space for freedom of movement and many opportunities for children to gain the skills they need to be independent.

Hello there! I am a longtime nanny and childcare provider (15+ years) with years of experience teaching art to elementary students. Over the last eight years, I have worked exclusively with infants, starting from newborn through about 18mos. and I have adored it. My career has solidified and I am now providing infant/early toddler care in my quaint, clean, cozy home. I am excited to be able to help more families seeking quality attention while offering a high level of flexibility. I keep my caregiver to infant ratio low, working with between one and three infants at a time. [Note: After many years of consistently working with multiples, I greatly consider the practicality of the jobs I take and only commit to what I know I can have fun with] Depending on the day's schedule, babies can experience 1-on-1 attention or day-long playful friendships with 1-2 peers. My style is responsive, silly, relaxed. I cultivate a calm, light demeanor in every experience, even when babies are upset or frustrated. I am inspired by both Magda Gerber's RIE philosophy as well as Montessori for infants, both of which are inspired by independence, and respect for baby as a self-learner. Our days include a steady routine, zero screen time for babies, 80% French language immersion, dancing/singing/music, age-appropriate games, outside time, and quality prepared meals (when the time comes, and with an extra food preparation fee if needed). In addition to engaging in age-appropriate toys and comforts, I am a rain-or-shine nanny/person so whether we walk the backyard, tend to the small front garden, or walk to nearby parks, shops, and schools it is important to me to venture outside daily for fresh air, experience, and play. I am a "yes" caregiver with a "do it!"/"try it!" attitude. I'm not a hoverer and hope to connect with parents who believe kids need lots of personal space, patience, and time to make decisions. My rate is $15/hr/kid and while I might be managing a schedule online in the future, I am just at the start of this process and am very open to connecting with the right families. Let's chat about your needs! Please check out my website for additional information: chezplaypdx.wordpress.com

Child care
At Montessori Unlimited, unique learning tools, just the right amount of guidance, plenty of independence, and lots of social interaction all feed into the trademark Montessori self-directed educational process. We offer a unique way to learn. The personal interests of each child are embraced, celebrated, and nurtured. At Montessori Unlimited, self-direction and self-discipline lead to self-discovery. In our schools, tangible experiences are designed to stimulate each child's curiosity and provide an optimum learning experience. Children work at their own pace and choose their own activities. They work alone or in groups, when older children share knowledge and get younger children excited about learning. Encouraging children to work together, with each others' best interests in mind, builds social skills and challenges them to learn. Our method is sound. Our goal is simple: Helping your child prepare for the future.

Child care
We hear this often from former West Hills' students enrolling their own children in our program. It always makes us smile because the story of West Hills Montessori is about multiple generations stepping into the same vision. We opened our first Montessori classroom in 1968, in what has come to be known as the "Little Red Schoolhouse " on SW Vermont Street in Portland. Seven years ago we opened our Lake Oswego campus, a beautiful facility in the West Lake neighborhood, right off I-5. The Montessori Pathways program is our non-profit sister school which offers quality primary (ages 3 - 6) classroom experiences within an integrated environment that serves both handicapped and non-handicapped children. Learn more about Montessori Pathways ... Today, West Hills Montessori has 11 classrooms at three different campuses serving children ages 15 months - 12 years. We are committed to the growth and development of each individual child. This commitment to the "whole child" and his/her well-being remains the foundation for our community. As one of the oldest Montessori programs in Oregon, West Hills has for decades provided the highest quality educational experiences for our students, while spreading awareness and helping to build and support the regional Montessori community. Founder, Nancy H., was instrumental in bringing AMI Montessori Teacher Training to Portland in 1979. West Hills continues to partner with the Montessori Institute NW to host student teachers during each school year. All West Hills teachers are certified by the Association Montessori Internationale. Over the years our classrooms have multiplied but our mission has remained the same. Generations of children have passed through our doors and gone on to succeed in secondary school and in life. This is our proud legacy. We 're honored to have earned your trust, and look forward to many more years offering the exceptional learning experiences upon which lifelong success is built.

Hello, from East Multnomah County! I'm a young grandma that is retired and looking for a few little people to share my time with. I am looking for a family or two who needs part-time day care services. My days and times are somewhat flexible. We have a house with a large fenced backyard. We do have a very friendly dog, Maggie, she's an Australian Shepherd mix. I am a social worker by training and have worked in a number of positions involving children, advocacy, mentoring, addictions, and abuse. I've worked as a Montessori day care teacher, have run my own day care in the 1990's (when my own child was young), and now I am a proud grandma (or meemaw, as I'm called) to a beautiful granddaughter, who will be two in December. I get to play with her a couple times a week, so I'm hoping to keep my day care kid numbers low enough that I can still get out and about in the car. I love arts and crafts, nature and learning and these are the things I do with my grand-baby. This is a new endeavor for me, so I am a new business; however, I am not new to child care. I don't have too many age restrictions and my schedule is pretty flexible, so I'm able to work with your schedule to a certain extent. I am not currently licensed (I was in the 90's, but I'm sure that's expired by now), but that is on my agenda in the very near future. I look forward to speaking to you to see if I can be a good fit for you and your family. Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile!

Montessori education focuses on allowing students to learn in their own way, promoting self-directed learning and exploration. Montessori emphasizes the development of the individual as well as academics, focusing on building independent critical thinking skills and cultivating independence.

Choosing a Montessori school near you in Portland, OR for your child can be an important decision, as you want to be sure that the school environment is conducive to their needs.
