Part-time Child Or Elder Caregiver
Since 2002, I have worked with domestic violence victims in family law and helped parents with difficult/abused children and abused wives as well. My mother had Alzheimer's; my father has Parkinson & dementia. My roommate has diabetes causing depression, dementia, irrationality, & memory loss, as well as amputations. I have handled the emotional swings, frustration, pain, anger & need for comfort & care with dignity for all--the parent, child, the elderly AND the caregiver. If a caregiver cannot appreciate the problems, the child or sick person is just a chore. I have a unique view--I have perm. spinal cord disability from an infection. I can't lift a person, but I've learned to care for myself, use a walker & can meet someone's basic needs. I understand the frustration that comes with loss of independence. I don't have a medical degree; I have life experience in learning to walk again. I've been the ignored patient and I can understand and meet an elder or child's basic needs..
