Seeking care for my mother in her 60s. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, feeding, meal preparation, medication prompting, help staying physically active, mobility assistance, transportation, light housekeeping, errands / shopping. No prior experience required. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, support for chronic illness, nursing experience. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be energetic, anxious, lethargic, pleasant, outgoing, independent. My Mom is a 69-year-old MS patient. She is a social butterfly and loves people, kids, animals, gardening. She is in a wheelchair and requires support for ADL. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, strong, fond of pets, outdoorsy. The ideal caregiver will be friendly, honest, willing to support someone who tries every day to be her best but struggles with the issues of MS at the age of 69. We are looking for someone who will be willing to work every other weekend, as well as evenings. We are somewhat flexible and are respectful of everyone's need for time off. This is a great opportunity to help Mom eat dinner, discuss the news of the day, and help her to bed. Mom was very girly and athletic when she was healthy. She's more tired than she used to be, but she likes being in the sunshine and checking her raised flower pots and bird watching. She loves music. Generally her schedule runs 9 a.m. to about 1pm, then 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. We have found that the evening schedule works great for folks who like a little bit of extra cash but don't need a straight 40 hours. She lives in an in-law quarters of my brother's house. We do have a time keeping system in place to ensure transparency. Professionalism is essential for all of us and we have an open door policy on communication. We need that in order for everyone to stay physically and emotionally healthy.
