Seeking care for my loved one in his 60s. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, meal preparation, medication prompting, mobility assistance, light housekeeping. Looking for someone with 5+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: support for chronic illness. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my loved one: he can be anxious, pleasant, grouchy, outgoing. He just came home Saturday Feb 15 from a rehabilitation center. He is 62, 5'9", 155 lbs and has late onset muscular dystrophy. He is walking with a walker, needs assistance getting in and out of bed, is very weak has a wheelchair and a full reclining electric chair. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, strong. Someone who understands someone who has a permanent disability, and is getting weaker and may have very tired days and then better days has no appetite yet knows he needs to eat. Needs both his legs lifted into the bed. My brother will not be leaving the apt. He has been diagnosed in April with late onset muscular dystrophy. He sleeps until 9-10 a.m. so only needs someone to arrive at 11 a.m. We have an aide now who works 11-6 p.m. Monday to Friday, for now we are looking for someone to work every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 pm, and an occasional Sunday 11-6 p.m.
He needs help with the morning routine then uses walker into the living room and watches TV enjoying sports, news , and vintage shows and conversation. He stays up for 3 hours then needs to go back to bedroom to rest.
