Jeffrey's Music Lessons (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Production, Song Writing, Vocal)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    San Antonio, TX

Years of Experience: 12 Location Options: In Studio Travel Radius: 15 Genres: Rock, Country, Acoustic, Pop Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Bass Guitar Lessons,Vocal Lessons,Song Writing Lessons,Record Engineer Produce Overview: My name is Jeffrey. I was born and raised in the San Antonio, Texas area. I have been playing the guitar since I was 11, and music has always been a huge part of my life. I started playing shows with a band when I was 13. Back then, it was more of just something I did, rather than a career choice, but once I graduated high school and had the opportunity to pursue whatever my heart desired, I decided that the only thing I care about doing is music. I devote most of my time playing, writing and performing music with my current band (Between Then And Now), and when I'm not doing things with the band, I'm promoting, marketing, networking, and practicing to enhance my skills. I picked up singing around 3 years ago and have been enhancing my skills on a daily basis. I am also proficient in bass, and I record music in my spare time. Formal Education: I was in band class in middle school where I had played the tuba. Band class is where I got a solid idea of how rhythm works, how time signatures exist within music, how to read (and sight read) music, and generally how to keep up with a full band as a whole. I took music appreciation where I had learned about how music was like from literally the beginning of time, to modern day era. I learned how music affected us as musicians, and where music began to evolve into a more formulated structure as seen in pop song hits we have today. I was in band class for two years of high school, where I had played percussion instruments. In those classes I learned how to keep up with extensive rhythm, and how to further elaborate my time signature skills, as well as being the backbone of the full band. Private Education: My private education involved copious amounts of music theory. I had spent hours with my instructor in which he taught me the basics of music theory, and eventually more advanced content. I learned complex musical languages, such as circle of fifths, differences between harmonies and melodies, key annotations in music, advanced time signatures, major and minor scales, scale degrees, modes, basic chords, diminished chords, 7-9-11 chords, chord progressions, transcribing music to different keys, applying key changes mid song, getting advanced look at song structures, and many many more things I had picked up either through my then music teacher, or through simply reading about it in my various music books. Performing Experience: As of recently, my current band, Between Then And Now, has been playing shows in the San Antonio era, where we have been drawing crowds of around 30-60 people every show. We have been told that we are filled with energy and know how to keep a crowd entertained, on top of having great music to go with it. This is the last band I plan on performing in, as I plan on this band to take me and our members straight to the top of the music industry. Experience Teaching: As of recently, though, I got serious about teaching when I took my best friend of the last 5 years, Ashwin Chary, under my wing. Ashwin wanted to learn how to play guitar, but didn't really know how or where to start. I helped him pick out an acoustic guitar (since in my opinion, that's the absolute best type of guitar for a beginner to start), and from there I've taught him proper guitar holding technique, how to properly strum a guitar with down/up movements, how to form various chords, how to fit those chords in with various other chords, how to apply scales to the songs he's writing, how repition in music is never a bad thing, how to write in 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures (, and even both at the same time), how to properly jump around the fretboard seemlesly, and just about anything that a beginning guitar player would NEED to know. This started in January of this past year, and the progress he's made since then has blown my mind. He always tells me that without me and the lessons I have been giving him, he wouldn't be nearly as good as he is right now, and that warms my heart. There's still a lot of teaching to give to him, but right now, he's been progressing at a rate that I've never really seen before. -Reviews- Name: Mr. Nicholas Zook Date: 2016-08-12 20:16:25 Title: Mr. Jeffrey L. Body: My very first experience with Mr. Jeffrey L. was incredible, we had met in a Barnes and Nobles book store in the music section, I was looking for books teaching Bass Guitar and he was reading a book about Music Theory, I had asked him if he was a musician or teacher of the sort and he said that he was and was offering lessons based on instrument and degree of complexity. If it wasn't for running into Mr. Jeffrey L. that day, I would not have been able to be so proficient at Jazz Bass Guitar as I am now, after taking private lessons with Mr. Jeffrey L. he would show me how music is translated and interacting with other instruments. For example the relationship between Drum and Bass, and Bass and Rhythm Instruments. I wouldn't have dreamed of being able to play a drum kit, or bass guitar, or a piano even, if it wasn't for the delicate advice and guidance of Mr. Jeffrey L.. All in all Mr. Jeffrey L. made me a better LISTENER, I have never been able to sit down and create the best material I can musically, I owe where I am at today to Mr. Jeffrey L.'s professionalism and his knowledge of the musical realm.

Benjamin's Music Lessons (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Orchestral, Piano, Song Writing)

My primary instrument is the electric bass guitar but most of my students up to this point have actually been for acoustic, classical and electric guitar. I also play and teach drums and percussion, piano, and can teach ear training, music theory and songwriting/composition. I also compose music in a variety of styles for multiple instruments. I have an Associates degree in the Arts from the Dallas County Community College district, studied jazz and classical performance at UTA, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Art and Performance from UTD. My focus as a teacher is to identify the specific personal goals of each student and tailor their lesson accordingly. While I believe this is the best place to begin, in order to ferment growth as a musician I will gradually work to expand my students' goals beyond their original intent. Assuming the student shows promise and, more importantly, motivation and willingness to put in the work, the intent is to bring the student to levels of success even greater than their original goals. As a music educator I strive to maintain a balance between teaching music as a science and as an art. I will stress the importance of having at least a basic understanding of reading music, music theory and ear training, but only as a part of a greater whole. I believe that emotional impact, on the performer, and from the performer to the audience, is the most important aspect of music by far. Formal Education: Graduated high school in 3 years at age 16 from Bryan Adams high school. Associates degree awarded from DCCCD in Music. I could hear and feel her every word! I felt like I was experiencing the reading all over again.' At this moment, Denisha knew her voice and held power, so she began pouring it into her music. Being so open and unapologetically true to herself with her emotions through music has not only shaped Denisha into who she is as a person, but also influenced her artistry and what she stands for as NISH, the raw and authentic artist from the burbs of New York. Her RB fused Pop sound not only makes any listener feel all the feels, but also encourages a strong, confident, sense of self. While always leading with love and compassion, NISH finds no hesitation making music that reminds herself and all of her supporters to forget what everybody else has to say and break free from the shackles of what is thought to be THE way. Make your own niche. BE your own NISH. Following her own advice has landed NISH on stages like NBC’s The Voice, New Day Associates All Star Fashion Weekend, Belmont University MLK Celebration, Melissa County Celebration of Freedom Festival, and more. Massapequa Park, NY

Years of Experience: Over 10 years experience Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 30 Miles Genres: Rock, Country, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Song Writing Lessons Overview: Guitar / Electric Bass: Rock, Folk, Blues, Country, Classical, Etc. Robert's teaching style has two main objectives. First, to teach his students the fundamentals of music, including note reading and proper technique. Second, he helps to engage his students to learn (in whatever genre it is they wish to learn) popular music or songs that they enjoy. This often gives his students the ability to actualize their own accomplishments as musicians while having a lot of fun. He is very patient with beginners, but he has experience teaching students of all ages! Formal Education: Robert has been singing and playing instruments since he was 8 years old. His first instrument was his voice which he first used to sing and perform with jazz choirs and in school. After feeling the rush of performing on the same stage as Mel Torme and in front of very large audiences, he couldn't get enough of it. He began to take lessons in clarinet and played with his school band. In junior high school, he opted to skip lunches so he could continue his training with both band and chorus. It was around this same time Robert was introduced to the world of musical theater. By age 13, Robert discovered Jimi Hendrix' "Purple Haze" and got his first guitar. He went on to study Music Business at SUNY Oneonta where he learned the ins and outs of the music industry. Along with his core curriculum, he studied piano, cello, guitar, audio arts, and songwriting with some excellent instructors including Spyro Gyra's Jeremy Wall and Broadway Actress Colby Thomas. He began writing more original music and started playing instruments for several bands. After finishing his course work, Robert had the opportunity to work for Lou Reed, Cake, She Wants Revenge, Rikki Lee Jones, and many other famous bands. He worked for American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and gained Event Production experience at music festivals such as All Points West Music Festival. Robert is now a member of ASCAP and continues to write and play music. He has been teaching for several years and would like to pass the torch and help you or your loved one find joy in learning, playing, and performing.
