I began taking private lessons with Richard Grimm who was a working Jazz drummer who was very well rounded. Rich taught rudiments classically and taught the traditional grip technique (used in Jazz and Symphonic) for a more delicate approach and feel, later I moved to matched grip used in a more power approach used Rock and Fusion. I began teaching at Brook Mays Music when I was 13 and playing professionally around town while going to school. I attended the Arts Magnet School in Dallas, at the time it was Skyline High School. I continued studying with Jack Rumbly Percussionist for the Ft Worth Symphony. After graduation I received a Scholarship for Performance at Stephen F Austin University. I then moved to Los Angels and Studied with Chet McCracken (Doobie Bros) and Hank Bellson (Louie Bellson's Brother) where I learned Jazz phrasing. Throughout out my career I have recorded jingles and recorded for numerous artists, I have toured across the US and overseas playing in many different musical situations. My experience ranges from playing Theatrical Musical to Jazz, Rock, Country and Blues. Not only do I teach technique, I teach musicality.
