My primary instrument is the electric bass guitar but most of my students up to this point have actually been for acoustic, classical and electric guitar. I also play and teach drums and percussion, piano, and can teach ear training, music theory and songwriting/composition. I also compose music in a variety of styles for multiple instruments. I have an Associates degree in the Arts from the Dallas County Community College district, studied jazz and classical performance at UTA, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Art and Performance from UTD. My focus as a teacher is to identify the specific personal goals of each student and tailor their lesson accordingly. While I believe this is the best place to begin, in order to ferment growth as a musician I will gradually work to expand my students' goals beyond their original intent. Assuming the student shows promise and, more importantly, motivation and willingness to put in the work, the intent is to bring the student to levels of success even greater than their original goals. As a music educator I strive to maintain a balance between teaching music as a science and as an art. I will stress the importance of having at least a basic understanding of reading music, music theory and ear training, but only as a part of a greater whole. I believe that emotional impact, on the performer, and from the performer to the audience, is the most important aspect of music by far. Formal Education: Graduated high school in 3 years at age 16 from Bryan Adams high school. Associates degree awarded from DCCCD in Music. Studied jazz and classical performance at UTA, Bachelor's Degree awarded in Arts and Performance from UTD Performing Experience: I have performed throughout the DFW area since 2001 Experience Teaching: I spent most of my college years tutoring music theory informally. In 2015 I starting teaching music professionally. -Education- Degree: Bachelor's degree in Art and Performance School: UTD Dates: 2014 Degree: Associates degree in Music School: DCCCD Dates: 2010
