She began playing piano at age 5, and has played for soloists, worship services, university choirs, international tours, and has taught over 300 students in her busy career. As a voice teacher and singer, Eileen's experience and expertise are equally as strong. She has been featured as guest soloist for musicals, oratorios, musical theater, and earned a full scholarship to Southwestern Seminary by being chosen as a part of the 16-voice Consort Singers in Ft. Worth, TX. She provides vocal coaching for students preparing for auditions on the local and national level, and is a recognized preparatory teacher for students entering a Music Major in a number of colleges and universities. In Eileen's own words: Helping my students understand the relationship between the music and the world around them has been my joy and my delight in teaching for the past 30 years. The incredibly positive response and feedback from my students has always been such an encouragement, and seeing their excitement and eager attitudes is something that I have enjoyed from my students from early Elementary ages through adults and Seniors. I have become convinced that my “calling” is to engage and challenge my students, and to help them become knowledgeable and successful in listening to, creating, and truly enjoying music of many styles and eras. So I make use of a variety of teaching resources to pique their interest and to open their minds to many new possibilities. The common denominator in my teaching has always been a striving for excellence. Setting high goals in the selection and use of resources and materials, and in the enabling and encouragement of my students seems to be the best way to build a capable and competent musician. And I am anxious to help my students gain musical and expressive skills that will enhance their lives and enable them to make a positive contribution to their family, their community, and to many others. Eileen and her husband, Scott, have a son and new daughter-in-law (Randy and Jenn) and enjoy traveling, baseball (the Atlanta Braves, of course), and spending time at in Orange Beach, AL on the beautiful Gulf!
