Over the years, he developed his skills by practicing daily. He gained performance experience in high school by playing as the lead guitarist in the jazz ensemble for concerts and fundraising galas. Over the summer in 2016, he was involved in various bands at Brandeis University where he studied and performed jazz. Though Mendel loves many genres of music, his personal favorites are jazz and blues which had great influence on his playing style. Mendel has a gift for music as he not only taught himself advanced music theory, playing techniques, and how to read sheet music, but also discovered that he has perfect-pitch. Mendel began his teaching career in high school and extended it over-seas in Israel during a gap-year program where he taught many students and played live music as well. After returning to the United States, Mendel brought his music to Thomas Jefferson University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. As a passionate teacher, Mendel is most interested in bringing out the best in his students while fostering a love for all different types of music.
