Having begun playing piano at the age of 7, I started by learning classical and workedtolearn that genre through lessons for6 years. I then in addition to still learning classical began to branch out into all popular forms of piano music including movie music, gospel, and pop. When I reached high school, I began learning jazz and blues even being selected as the sole pianist for the All State Jazz Band my senior year of high school in the year 2000. I then attended Columbus State University majoring in music education performing on trombone in wind ensemble and orchestra and piano in the jazz band as well as accompanying students on recitals. I received my Bachelor of Music in 2004 summa cum laude. After this I taught high school band at Albany High School in Albany, GAfrom 2004-2006, chorus at Hardaway High School in Columbus, GA in 2006 - 2007, band atKendrick High School in Columbus, GA2007-2008, band at Hardaway High School from 2008 - 2014 and I am currently band director at Heritage High School in Conyers, GA beginning in 2014. I also have taught church choirs and played piano for churches serving as their music director in Albany, Columbus, and Atlanta. I was honored to be selected Teacher of the Year for the entire school district in Columbus, GA in 2012 and STAR teacher in 2013. My band programs receive superior ratings every year in all ensembles. I teach concert, marching, and jazz bands. I am fluent in German and French as well.
