Part-Time Nanny Available In Somerville - Active, Cheerful, Reliable, And Grounded
Hi! I am a native Californian who moved to Boston with my husband last Fall and have been working with several wonderful Somerville families since. Starting in Sept, I will be caring for two children (8 months and 24 months) in the mornings and am looking to provide trustworthy childcare and household assistance to another local family in the afternoons (anywhere from 2 p.m. to 6pm).
I don't have my own transportation (but I do have a drivers license and spotless record) and prefer to be on foot and stay local. I'm hoping to connect with families as close to my home in Union Square, Somerville, as possible.
For the past year, I've worked for two families in the same Somerville neighborhood with two toddlers (ages ranging from 1. 5-3 years) who would overlap/nanny share 1-2 afternoons a week. With both girls, we'd run around at the playground, visit the museum, go on long walks, attend music, dance and tumbling classes and visit indoor play spaces. We did arts and crafts projects, played games, baked for their families, read, sang and explored the neighborhood on foot. With one of the families, I assisted regularly with meal prep, light cleaning, laundry, errands, dog walking, etc.
Additionally I worked temporarily with a family (3 months) as a "mothers helper" where I assisted in early mornings to get three children (ages 2, 4, 6) ready for school in the morning and out the door. Additional tasks included laundry, light housekeeping and meal prep.
I am extremely active, hands-on and playful. I'm good-humored, trustworthy and flexible. Passions of mine include sailing, travel, hiking, camping, cooking and child/family photography. I will be a cheerful, reliable, grounded presence in your home!
Going back a little further -
My previous professional childcare experience was in college, and involved two years as a nanny in Santa Cruz for three children (ages 9, 13 and 15). I picked them up from school, drove them to after-school activities, helped with homework and school projects, engaged with their teachers, prepared meals and provided light housekeeping. Additionally I spent three summers as a YMCA, K-2 after-school program coordinator where I developed curriculum and activities, engaged parents, monitored playground and oversaw the classroom. My recent professional background is 7 years in the nonprofit sector, working for organizations that educate kids & young people and engage them in social change.
