This program enables me to provide breakfast, lunch and snacks to the children in my care at no extra cost to the parents for as long as the program is offered to me. We enjoy a "Circle Time" daily in the mornings. During this time I introduce their names (the spelling of it and the formation of it's letters), letter,shape and number recognition, counting, colors and calendar (this consists of recognizing and talking about the current month, the season it is in, the seven days of the week and the placement of the dates on the calendar), and weather of the day. I have a room that I use as a "classroom" and also have a large playroom with a variety of toys in the basement. We read, enjoy music, play with age appropriate puzzles and games and use play-dough, paints, markers and crayons regularly. I also take the children on field trips at least once a week. These are mostly local and some examples are many playgrounds and parks, small farms, libraries, nature center, apple and pumpkin picking in the Fall, Niantic Children's Center and the Mystic Seaport. In my daycare we spend a good deal of time outdoors. I do have a good-sized back yard and a walking friendly neighborhood. Non-smoker. I have excellent references that I will provide if requested. *I'm also interested in some sitting on weekend evenings (perhaps days) for the summer months only. I would need some notice for this.
