Everett Community College's Early Learning Center

820 Waverly Avenue, Everett, WA

Starting at $52/day

The ELC provides on-campus, licensed childcare in an environment that is safe, nurturing and designed to meet the developmental needs of children who are 1 to 5 years old.

The Early Learning Center provides care for students and community families. Families can choose to enroll for a single academic quarter, the full academic year or full-time, full-year care. Based on income, children may also be eligible for free preschool through ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program).

Current Everett Community College students who are enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits receive priority enrollment and a reduced rate.

The Early Learning Center operates as a part of the Family Life and Early Childhood Education Departments at Everett Community College. The center's organization is based upon a cooperative model where families and center staff work together to achieve a quality early childhood program.

We value the cooperative nature of our program by demonstrating mutual respect, understanding and communication with each other.

ELC teachers respond to each child's individual needs by providing warm and responsive communication, gentle guidance and positive learning opportunities. They model and communicate caring, respect, responsibility and appreciation of our diverse community.

We provide an environment and interactions that support children in becoming eager learners, creative thinkers, confident problem solvers and sensitive, compassionate human beings.

We believe families are a child's first and most important teachers, and do our best to be respectful partners in children's care and education. We see the early learning years as a remarkable and exciting time to be involved in the life of a child.

Families stay involved in the care and education of their children through parent education classes and volunteering in their child's classroom, where they also build relationships with teachers and each other.

Children at the Early Learning Center also benefit from the participation of Early Childhood Education students, student work study participants, as well as student and community volunteers.

Costimate: $257/wk

Little Jet Childcare is a mother/daughter team ("Grandma" and Janis) operating a licensed family home child care for the past 12 years in the Everett Mall area. Several children of Everett teachers have placed their children in our care, not only for the preschool opportunities, but, for the love and nurturing every child needs in their formative years (recommendations upon request). Janis has a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and an additional five years of experience in the Everett ECAP program and Christ The Rock Childcare and Preschool. Our day care is completely separate from our living quarters and we have two well-equipped playgrounds (one for toddlers and one for older children).

Nutrition: Our food is home cooked delicious and regulated by a government food program for great nutrition and balance. A sample breakfast might include an omelet, fruit and sausage or ham with milk (not just cereal and milk.)

Preschool:
We also have wonderful learning experiences and craft projects both indoors and outdoors. Although we do have a plan for every day, we also believe that learning should be fun. We work with 1-year-old to 5-year-old children in the things they are interested in which is most helpful to the child. We encourage the growth of relationships and imagination and provide many ways for them to express and experience.

Favorite Projects:
The children participate in planting and caring for flowers and vegetables to learn horticulture. Our weekly craft projects are a hit teaching colors, painting, gluing, alphabet or numbers. Another favorite is Tea Party Tuesday and Wednesday's Bible Story.

Rates & Hours:
Our daily rate is $35 which includes meals and preschool. We are open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We accept infants through 5 years old.
