Acorn Academy opened last spring as an Eco-friendly in-home daycare, located at 3060 Watts Farm Road, Charlottesville, VA 22911. We specialize in early childhood development, licensed and insured for up to 12 children. We provide top-quality childcare for infants and toddlers year round at a rate of $250 per week (or $50 per day for part-time care). Nurturing caregivers supervise children at a low caregiver-to-child ratio of 1:4. We serve healthy, homemade meals and snacks. Our nature-based learning program offers hands-on, age-appropriate activities for children to explore their natural surroundings. Each day, children create art, read books, and learn through play in an Eco-friendly environment, both inside and outside. I believe Acorn Academy is a unique opportunity to teach young children how to grow in harmony with nature. I, Rebekah, am a caring, patient, creative, and playful childcare provider. With over 15 years of working with children, I have extensive experience within this industry, including infant, toddler, preschool, and special needs care. I have an interior design degree from Appalachian State University, as well as CPR and First Aid training certifications. My husband and I have a 2 year old daughter and an infant son. Now that our family is growing, I operate a small in-home daycare business out of our home. We are currently enrolling for next year! Since ASAPSitters, LLC launched in 2008, we have provided babysitters for over 1,000 families in the Northern Viginia, DC and Charlottesville. Many of our new clients are referred by families that are already a part of the "ASAPSitters family" - folks already using our experienced and reliable babysitters. We believe this is a true testament to the quality of our babysitters and service! We take great pride in being able to match families up with trustworthy, creative, and dependable babysitters. As a mom myself, I would settle for nothing less. As a locally based service, we interview all of our babysitters during a very thorough screening process. We are also privileged to connect directly with local families who join ASAPS - and maintain a relationship with both our babysitters and families on an ongoing basis. We're very exited about how ASAPSitters has continued to grow and how we are a little part of that "village" it takes to raise a child. We are working on expanding our services to meet the needs of families in other nearby areas. In 2012, we opened a new branch in Charlottesville, VA in addition to our DC Metro area region. And in 2015, we opened our Richmond area branch. We hope to grow to serve more wonderful families in the near future!

Our emergent curriculum is child-based and focuses on intense hands-on experiences. This approach begins in the toddler classrooms and helps stimulate community and awareness among every age. An important piece of our program is family participation in lessons, field trips and projects. We currently enroll a range of 80-90 children in our seven rooms. Child-staff ratios vary within each of the seven classrooms, but are well below state licensing limits. Each classroom is designed to serve children of a particular age range. Our teachers have various educational backgrounds such as a 4 year degree in a child related field, master credits in Education, a 2 year Early Childhood Certificate, a CDA (Child Development Associate National Credentialing Program), and/or various years of experience working with children. All of our teachers receive continuous early childhood training and meet or exceed training requirements set by Licensing. As a non-profit center, our staff salaries are funded by tuition fees. We strive to retain quality staff by providing fair wages and benefits. We also employ two full-time floating teachers that fill in for teachers' illnesses and vacations and/or provide extra help to the classrooms during the day. WCCC employs some college students as part-time afternoon floats to provide extra help to our classrooms and support classrooms as the 7:30 a.m. teachers leave for the day. They are trained in the philosophy of the center and count in licensing ratios.
