Job description Tutoring Club Naperville/Plainfield helps students raise grades and improve test scores. We provide tutoring services for students of all academic levels, kindergarten through 12th grade. At Tutoring Club, our goal is to bring each student to the desired academic level as quickly as possible. We work to reduce stress and build confidence by creating an individualized program for each student. Tutors assist students by providing academic support for students in rigorous courses, serve as a role model to students, and assist students with organization and project planning. Tutors are expected to be active learners and mentors, not just content experts. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provide individualized instruction to students by (re)teaching subject material, study skills, test taking strategies, discussing testing techniques, working on solutions to problems, and assessing students' progress throughout the tutoring session. Promote productivity and learning by managing tutoring environment, keeping area free of unnecessary distractions, and increasing productivity and learning. Provide constructive feedback to students by using positive reinforcement techniques, while encouraging, motivating, and building confidence in students. Communicate student progress by documenting and updating student records and following up with staff. Job Specifications: Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work with students from 6th to 12th grade Ability to follow curriculum Ability to communicate effectively and clearly Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and duties Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions Ability to arrive for work on time Applicants should have: Mastery of an academic subject (Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physics, Computer Science, English, History, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish, etc.) Patience and flexibility when working with students with different learning styles Great communication skills A passion for teaching and education A positive attitude Great SAT or ACT scores (a plus!)
