Compassionate, Warm And Extremely Patient Senior Caregiver/Companion Seeking Part-Time Employment
Hello. My name is Pam and I am an RN who loves the geriatric population (young and old). I feel we have so much to learn from their experiences and thoroughly enjoy hearing their stories in only ways that they can recount. My experience includes taking care of Alzheimer's, dementia and hospice patients, as well as the general elderly population. I am currently seeking part-time work and am fortunate enough to have a very flexible schedule. I believe in keeping both the mind and body active and encourage it in such a way that most people don't even realize or find objectionable. I also strongly encourage seniors to do many things for themselves to help foster a sense of independence.
I feel that my nursing experience serves to set me apart from the rest, and has taught me that we all still have a lot to learn! I am a firm believer in teaching a person to be their own health advocate by providing them education, explaining things in detail and taking the time to ensure I am truly caring for a person, not just being a companion or caretaker. I am highly organized, detail-oriented and structured, and great at devising ways to assist people in being that way themselves when it comes to their own care or families assisting with their loved ones' care. Examples include medication management and organization, lists/instructions for people to follow when it comes to their care or daily activities, and general documentation/journals of things that are important or even not so important.
If you are looking for care or companionship for your loved one, I would encourage you to contact me and give me the opportunity to speak with you about your situation, what exactly you are seeking, and allow us both the time to see if it would be a good fit. You, more than I, need to feel comfortable with your decision of who you will ultimately hire and that is something I would suggest you take your time with - even if it is not me you ultimately choose...
