Wild Strawberry Discovery School was founded on the idea that children learn best when allowed to be... well, children. Teaching trends have changed hundreds of times over hundreds of years, but the way a child develops from a baby into an adult hashardly changed at all. Keeping that in mind, our goal is to prepare children for their future, even when today's adults can't quite predict what that future will be. Our play-based philosophy nurtures real-world skills in age-appropriate ways. We provide the 3 "I"s: INGREDIENTS for play: a rotating selection of toys and loose parts chosen for their ability to spark creativity, challenge gender norms, and reflect both the local and global community. INSPIRATION for play: books, songs, and stories; as well as a wide selection of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) projects children may choose to do. INDEPENDENCE in play: staff have a hands-off approach as much as possible during activities to foster problem-solving, persistence, social skills, and confidence. One of the most important lessons children can learn in their early years is how to interact with their peers.
