Greeting from Krista,
My reflection over my professional career has always focused on service. My early years as a college student my focus was Disability Services and later during my course work in Therapeutic Recreation my focus turned to the older population. I credit this to my own grandfather and his struggles in aging and fighting Parkinson's like symptoms. During this time my grandmother had a caregiver and this woman really gave my grandmother 'hope' and 'friendship!' This opened my inner desire to be of serve to others. During my now (30) years of experience I have met and cared for so many wonderful amazing people and all of them taught me something! I cared for a retired surgeon for (5) years and those days with him are treasured moments. He thought me many things with out him realizing it- he encouraged me to go on and do great things in this field. So that's what I did and in knowing I couldn't do more myself, I needed other wonderful care associates. My husband and I started ' THE CAREGIVERS' (8) years ago so that we could run a more Private Home Care Company. We don't want to be like any other company (franchise) Proud to be family owned and operated. Our focus is to care for others like we would care for our own parents/ grandparents. We have been on many journeys with our clients and their families. What an honor to walk the walk with them and sometimes it's in preparation for their last journey. I personally have a love for Hospice Care We continue to grow and learn as this is important in being a professional caregiver. Our company trainer keeps us all informed on our needed courses. We have staff train on Prepare to Care training and offer the whole course along with our newest courses from CE Solutions and I'm looking to join CSA organization this year. There is an increase is our older population being diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. We always support Alzheimer's Association~We have developed some techniques that are unique to our company and service. We find that developing our approach will keep clients out of a nursing home longer and in their home longer as long as they are safe and stable. Over the years I have seen things change in home care- right now we are serving people much older, because we are living longer! Husband and wives are aging together many times it's one caring for the other but usually the one providing care is still needing care, too! Blessings,
Krista Woltman DCP THE CAREGIVERS
