My name is Janelle. I am a licensed, registered family care provider. I offer care for infants through 5th grade.
My true joy in life is caring for children and partnering with them as they grow. I have been teaching children for fourteen years. Myexperience spans the age ranges from infancy to school age children. I have worked as a children's church director and teacher, an assistant director at an after-school program, a head teacher for preschool children at a corporate center and an infant caregiver. I am certified as a preschool teacher and in CPR, First Aid, and food handling. I am trained in reporting abuse and neglect. I have gathered extensive training in early childhood education including the topics of assessment, literacy in early childhood, Reggio and Rie philosophy, potty training, positive discipline, assessment, and curriculum implementation. At Hearts & Minds, I work with an educational approach based on philosophies of Reggio Emilia, Jean PIaget, and Vygotsky. I believe that all children are active learners and are full of ideas to explore. I believe that is my job to facilitate their learning through discovery and experiences. I believe children learn through play and construct their learning as they work together. My curriculum is negotiated as a conversation between children, teacher, and parents.
