I honestly love Mt. Alvernia Daycare. I recommend them to everyone. What I appreciate the most is the time that the teachers take to talk to me about any concern that I may have. I have gotten to know each teacher in each room and I feel like it is a family environment.

The staff is wonderful! They do so many great things with the children. I have recommended Mt. Alvernia to many friends; it's a fantastic daycare!

We have been extremely happy with the care our son has received at Mt. A from 12 weeks until now (school age). The teachers are caring, emphasize character development, and encourage the children's creativity and imagination. We feel confident that our son is in a healthy, respectful environment where the children's needs are prioritized. The teachers did a wonderful job this school year with keeping parents informed about any issues that the school district's transportation company was having (delayed buses, etc.).

Ms. Jamie in the school age room had been a gift! She's instituted new activities, put limits on cell phones during the summer so the kids actually play and do what they need to do as children, and made an effort to tailor the summer program to the children's interests (which she can do because she gets to know each of them). The kids play outside daily, get dirty, get wet, and laugh a lot. Since we can't stay home all summer with our son, we're grateful he gets to have a camp-like experience at Mt. A. Although the center will be relocating at some point when its property is sold, we will definitely be continuing at the new site.

This place is a fraud they write their own reviews look at the last three reviews were all written on the same day. And the one person claims to be there for 13 years why would she be on this site looking for a daycare if she was so happy. We've been there for over 7 years and haven't had no problems until Jamie has arrived and once she makes it through a summer I'm sure she'll quit just like all the other ones their turnover rate is unbelievable my child has recorded the staff swearing at them and I happen to know for a fact they're under investigation right now

Best daycare in the city of Pittsburgh. Wonderful staff! We sent our kids there over a span of 13 years and never had an issue. I would recommend them to anyone in the city!!

I've been sending my oldest here since she was 8 weeks old and she is now 7 and my youngest since he was 10 weeks old and he is now 3. Mt. Alvernia goes above and beyond to ensure the safety and literacy of our children. It is NOT just a daycare where kids run free. They are an extension of the schools and teach and mold the children into respectable and educated individuals. I go to work knowing my kids are safe, nurtured and cared for 100%. They are responsible and professional and keep up to date on all requirements to run a daycare. Highly recommended and I will actually be sad when my kids are too old to attend!

Mount Alvernia is and has been a wonderful facility for not only care for our children, but as place to nurture, love, and accommodate all of their various needs!

We have utilized Mount Alvernia for the last 14years and can't say enough good about it!! The teachers are caring, accommodating and go above and beyond when it comes to providing care and activities for all ages!

We have children In various age groups and with varying needs; all of our children look forward to going which is such a relief when dropping them off.

There is no better feeling than knowing your children are safe and protected while you work long days!

Hats off to Jamie (who is amazing) who has brought so many new and fun programs to the program! And to all of te other teachers!!! We wouldn't consider going anywhere else! They are more than teachers at Mount A... we consider them Angels :)

Do not send your children there! My child recorded staff swearing at the children on his i-pad! The kids run wild ! Was told "Cannot accommodate " special needs (adhd). Staff refused to help kids with homework. Told my daughter "homework is for home!" Summer is worse. 6-12 year old children are all kept together. They sit in a room and watch movies the entire day. The new "superviser " Jamie is too young and inexperienced to handle the job. Staff turnover rate is very high.

This place got notice of closing this year so you might want to look somewhere else before calling. FYI
Reply from Mount Alvernia Day Care
Thanks Melissa for showing an interest in our center, however we feel it's important to get the correct message out there. Due to the sale of the property, we are relocating, not closing. We are in the process of aggressively searching for a new location within this community that we are dedicated to serve. We are keeping parents and staff updated as we get new information.
