An Honest Review from an Outsider:

What an amazing experience it's been so far! It's approaching 1 month since my daughter was enrolled and I'm a very happy mom! Let me start by saying, I never met any of the staff prior to my visit. I didn't even know this school existed. I researched every single school in the area to be sure I was making the right decision, I even asked around. I'm more than an anxious mom; I'm an over the top mom! I'm the one that will pack more than one lunch options for my child in her bag amongst other things. Let me comment on the negative comments below. Before I did a tour, I kept the reviews I read in mind. Trust me when I say, on my tour, I looked at everything including the toilet seats in the bathroom.

Update 1: Those accusations are totally untrue. Cameras are in the common areas but I love that for safety reasons. Wouldn't you want extra safety precaution for your children especially with what goes on in the news? It's very smart if you ask me and I love that they have nothing to hide. They need cameras in all schools to help prevent terrorism. What I've observed are happy children at school. Update 2: Yes, they're playground is under construction and will be ready this summer. No big deal since she was enrolled in the fall. The amount of space they have inside to play is bigger than any child care school I've ever been too. I have to exaggerate this! It feels like a playground inside anyway. Update 3: All the staff seem very genuine. My daughter's teacher hugs her like she's her own child and it's so comforting. You try teaching multiple children at once while keeping them engaged and then report back to me. It's a tough job and it takes a special kind of person with the patience to handle young children. (I can barely get my child to take a decent picture. She's the most energetic child; she will run for the entire day. I know the staff need a good night's rest after dealing with my little fireball). Update 4: Watching TV and YouTube all the time?? I don't see a TV to be honest. The day of the tour, kids were broken up into semi groups doing different activities. Some had one on one with the teacher on how to write letters. (There are two teachers in her classroom). The first day of school, children were sitting on the carpet for story time. They were actively listening and engaged in the story while responding to the teacher's questions. Parents must remember that they're children are really only just 2, 3 and 4 year old. This is not a school boot camp for toddlers. They're supposed to also have fun while they learn. The school offers additional programs: piano lessons, sculpting, dance etc. They are also learning different languages: Spanish, Mandarin. This was very important to me.

It feels like a fun learning school, not so much a daycare for babysitting. Children are taught to develop independent principles that they will need when they move to the next level in their lives. Parents are also encouraged to be academically apart of their children's lives: Come by and observe and even participate; if you have a skill or trade, share with others.

When it's pick up time, I have to chase my daughter to put on her coat so I can take her home. She does not fight me in the morning when I tell her, "let's go to school." She loves her school and this makes me so motivated to actively be apart as well! From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the entire staff at Applecore Learning for all you do! I absolutely recommend. 10 Stars!

I was able to attend a trip with the school recently. I was amazed how sweet and thoughtful the staff were. I had GREAT time and so did my son. Applecore Learning is one of the best kept secrets, if you are looking for a family friendly center, I would highly recommend Applecore. Kudos to Stacy and Nadege for everything you do!

I was truly upset to leave APPLECORE due to personal reason but I must say it was a great experience working there .The staff and parents are wonderful. What I liked best about APPLECORE is they listen to their staff/parents concerns and make changes that needs to be made .

As a parent it was very hard to find a place where I felt comfortable leaving my son. I don't think you will ever find a perfect place but I think Applecore is the closest I will get. They are so attentive to my child ( even though he is a had full at times) he has so much fun with his friends and loves the staff. He even called them his aunties. This daycare is a home away from to my child I can not thank the owner enough for opening such a nurturing center for children.

My child is so excited to attend school daily. He comes home with new phrases and I'm always pleasantly surprised! As a parent, you want to drop your child off without any worry. I never have any because of the exceptional professionalism and warmth!

I am an anal parent. I volunteered for an entire week last summer before placing my child (who was previously in the care of a nanny) in this school. There are many things that helped quell my anxiety about placing my child in this daycare. 1) The owner's daughter attends the school. 2) The instructors are required to give weekly lesson plans and complete daily sheets delineating my son's mood, times of diaper changes, and his appetite during meal and snack times. 3) The director and teachers behave as a wonderful surrogates by providing individualized comfort and access to the very emotional 2 and 3 year olds-while encouraging them to explore. I don't worry when I am at work. This may sound over the top, but when my son gets frustrated with me on the weekends, he asks for his teachers. The best part of my morning includes watching my son skip down the hall beating me to the entrance so he can go play and have fun. As a person involved in the field of education, I highly recommend this school!

My daughters went to this school for two weeks after we moved into Maplewood, New Jersey my husband did majority off pick ups & drop offs. The teachers were so friendly and welcoming and seemed very into the children. It was only 1 Caucasian teacher who was very rude and constantly yelling at the children even in front of the director neither director would say anything. The directors were not very friendly and seemed very fake in person they only want your money !! Over the phone and during the tours they charm you and tell you what you want to hear. There playground is also very small with broken toys which was a big turn off for us. Inside the children's bathroom there is also a camera which I think is highly inappropriate & creepy. Needless to say I had them switch schools they have been in there new school for 2 days and it was the best decision I ever made.

Hello John D,

Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to write this review. We take all reviews very seriously. It's unfortunate that it didn't work out while your daughters were enrolled at our center. We pride ourselves in providing quality service and your review will assist us in reaching our full potential.

Our main goal is to make sure that all parents are happy with the service provided and that all children are having fun and learning daily.

The teacher's assistant that you mentioned, is no longer employed with our center after numerous professional development sessions.

The playground although small, it is up to the New Jersey Daycare standards and will be furnished with new toys for the upcoming summer season.

The device in the children's bathroom is not a camera, rather a motion sensor light that turns on for additional lighting.

Again, thank you for your review and if you have any suggestions, please contact us.

Regards,

The owner and employees truly care about the children; education is the number one priority. The below comment must be from a disgruntled employee or local competition. You will not find a better daycare in the area. My child has been attending daycare at this facility for one year. Youtube is rarely used; exercise enrichment one time a week is the only time I've witnessed. They truly do strive to make every experience a great one full of educational fun. I've found them to be very open to any parent comments.

After researching, Applecore seemed to be the perfect place for my child. After visiting, I was not so impressed. Children spend a lot of time either playing games or watching YouTube. There was not much education being conducted.

Hello,

Thank you for visiting our facility. Although one of the main focus is to keep our children engaged and learning, we also believe that they should spend time playing games. Youtube Kids is one of the tools used for our interactive exercise sessions.

Again, thank you for your review and if you have any suggestions, feel free to contact us.

I would first like to start off by saying that calling Applecore Learning just a daycare is a disservice to the incredible work and learning that goes on daily within those walls. I prefer to call them an interactive learning center where your child's curiosity and education will be nurtured. The passion for learning begins with the owner of this wonderful school and it is exhibited by the staff that ensures every child is taken care of throughout the day. Both of my children enjoy their classes. Each of them comes home daily with a new skill, word or trip they enjoyed. If you want to put your child in a place that will grow them and inspire their desire to learn, send them to Applecore immediately.

AppleCare Learning is an awesome learning center. It is not your typical daycare facility where free play is often time the highlight as opposed to structure and actual learning and engagement. The owner has a passion for children so much that she has extended a part of heart to families by providing this space where children can receive proper learning opportunities through the best curriculum. Everyone should send there children to Applecore. Space is limited so enroll as quick as possible.
