My business is NEW but by no means is caring for the elderly new to me. I have always known that this was my calling, my ministry. In 1997 at the age of 17 my maternal grandma fell ill and needed around the clock assistance so basically she was my first client. After caring for her I knew what it was that I wanted to do and that was to help the elderly as they helped us in our younger days. So starting my own business has been my goal since 1997 but it was ALWAYS a vision of mine that I just didn't know where to begin. With the idea still on my mind in 2013 I was laid off from my job so then I acquired my CNA. My full-time job called me back a week after getting my certification so then I was detoured again. But this time I decided even though I worked full time I still needed to put my CNA to use because that's where my heart was, so I took on a PRN position at a nursing home where I worked overnights and weekends. I then ventured off into home health and immediately knew that's where I wanted to be because it gave the elderly a chance to be comfortable in their own space with a little bit of help. BUT then God put me to the test, my paternal grandmother who was totally independent and had never been hospitalized a day in her life with the exception of child birth had a stroke in Oct 2016 and her health failed from that day forward. Even though I was trained to do this and knew what I needed to do HOW just HOW could I bare watching her decline and take care of her, well I did it day in and day out and was there when she took her last breath at that moment I knew that was her and God's way of showing me that I was stronger than I thought so I just needed to step out on faith and do what it is that I love to do and that's care for others. So my grandmothers are my true motivation and the inspiration behind A.G.L. - A Granddaughter's Love.
