A family childcare program should include a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, a mix of structured and unstructured activities, and be a loving environment--and my Little Steps Daycare is all of these things. I love all of my children in my daycare as if they were my own and want to ensure they have the best early years possible. (Three of my children are now successful students in elementary school and one is entering kindergarten.) I have switched my cleaning product to a natural much safer product. I am concerned with the chemicals that we use in our daily cleaning products. I am now using Melaleuca. "Melaleuca is serious about getting harmful and toxic ingredients out of your home. I started off babysitting a set of twins who were, at the time, newborns, and watched them until they were 6 years old regularly, about 2-3 times a week. In high school I worked for a school district as an ESS Leader. I worked with a variety of age groups, all elementary school children, but worked mainly with the 2nd and 3rd graders. In this job we would work on homework, do arts and crafts, play organized sports outside, play educational games, and put on shows, plays, chorus performances, etc. After I graduated, while attending college, I worked as a nanny for three children, two of which had special needs. One child, who was 6 when I started working with him, was autistic. One, who was 8 when I started, had Down syndrome, and their sister was 7. I worked with them for 4 years. With them, we would do learning games, flashcards, homework, play soccer, swim, all kinds of things. I also lived with them, as their mother was a single parent, so I helped with cooking, cleaning, and errands.
