I have provided childcare since the age of 13 in many different capacities from babysitting to education to psychological development for all ages of children (infants through 21 years of age). Up until June 2014, for 12 years, I had been employed as a school psychologist in Delaware County working with special needs children and young adults (ages 3-21). For the past 2 years, I have been privileged to provide home care services to two families, each part-time but with overlapping days. The 3 children initially ranged in age from 1 to 3 years. They are currently 3 to 4 1/2 with the addition of a new sibling who is 8 months. One family will be transitioning out at the end of August and I am looking to offer my services again. My broad experience as a caregiver in many roles has prepared me well for my current job in the field of home-care and allows me to remain at home for a few years caring for my own two children. With all of my varied experiences, I have held many responsibilities in regard to direct care but have also been able to have fun and be creative. My favorite activities with children are cooking/baking, arts and crafts, reading and outdoor walks/runs. I have previously been certified in CPR and First Aid through my current job and have also had all the necessary security/background checks. I also have a clean driving record. In addition, my training as a school psychologist has given me a strong background in child development, behavior management, and social skills. I believe strongly in learning through play and child-directed play in order to develop their creativity and independence.
