Experienced Teacher Looking To Support Distance-Learning

I am a Massachusetts-licensed National Board-Certified Teacher. I have taught elementary school for the past 27 years, and I have tutored students in Grades 1-6. I can help students catch up with concepts taught this year, and/or support them with new concepts that come up. One of my strengths is being able to create engaging activities that either teach new material or reinforce what is learned in the classroom. I can support the teacher's lessons by either following his/her guidelines or by showing multiple ways to understand a concept. Whether it's mastering mean, median, and mode by keeping track of video game scores, completing a narrative writing exercise describing the Super Bowl from the point of view of the football, or practicing reading skills by looking at the lyrics to a favorite song, I will help a student not just enjoy learning, but to also be successful.

Mitch is a great tutor for my 6th grade daughter. As a teacher, he really understands the material and how to keep a child engaged and on track. The days she works with him, she is so satisfied to have her homework done. He also helps work on math and reading skills in addition to working on homework assignments. Mitch's help has made a huge difference in school this year, my daughter's grades are better than ever and her stress about homework is down.

My name is Brenda and I have been an elementary teacher for 30 years. I have taught grades K- 2nd primarily, and I have also been a lead teacher in a preschool for children 2. 9 to 5 years old. I hold a BS from Boston University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Brandeis University. I have taught hundreds of children to read, and literacy is my specialty. Additionally, I have tutored in my home for over the last 10 years, tailoring lessons to meet the individual needs of each student. My strength is creating engaging, creative, and challenging curriculum and for the last year I've been doing it successfully online and in-person. I am EEC licensed and I also have a current Mass teaching license. I am familiar with many reading, writing, math and behavioral programs currently used at public and private schools (Foundations, Investigations, Responsive Classroom, to name a few) and I would love the opportunity to assist your family in any way I can!

Brenda home-schooled my two girls, ages 7 and 5. I had never home-schooled and had no idea what I was doing. It was extremely easy to hire Brenda, to set a schedule, and get started. She is a very confident and friendly educator who came with her own lesson plans but was also flexible in incorporating my educational goals. She knows the elementary curriculum extremely well and tailored her lessons to my daughters strengths and weaknesses. She was very engaging, brought in a lot of fun games to incorporate into her lessons, and even kept my preschooler hooked on. My younger girl had the option to do Ms. Brenda school or not, but she always chose to participate and in fact looked forward to it every day. I always found it amazing how Brenda found ways to incorporate math and literacy into role playing, nature walks, and games. She soon became like family and celebrated all occasions and life with the girls. I wouldn't hesitate even a second to whole heatedly recommend her to other families
