Personal Care Attendant
I held position as an Office Manager for doctor's offices most of my adult working career. I retired in 2011 from my last public position. Since that time, I took care of my mother, then my father, both who suffered from dementia. Eventually both parents became residents of assisted living, and finally a nursing home, as their conditions demanded skilled nursing care. I am not qualified for that.
Since then, I have taken care of an elderly lady, an elderly couple, and my own daughter-in-law who suffered a stroke at age 36.
I enjoy the company of the older generation as I find them to be invaluable in the stories of their experiences. I am able to transport my charges to doctor's appointments, fix light meals, do light housekeeping, and other duties as desired. I am not a nurse, and do not qualify to care for one's who need skilled nursing care.
I am dependable, honest, and truly care for those whom I am charged to take care of. I generally make $10-$12 per hour.
