Caring For Your Loved Ones Like They Were My Own — San Diego, CA
I have always had a special place in my heart for care giving, especially for seniors. My journey started when I was about 8-years-old. I had a visit to a senior home to sing in our elementary choir and it was my first time ever experiencing the "senior home" community. Having been raised by my grandmother, I immediately made the connection that this was a place you can "go to" when you mature to a senior, but may not be the best place to "be at" for a senior. I came home that day and told my grandmother I would never allow her to end up "in a place like that" and I was fortunate and strong enough to make sure she never did. I cared for my "nana" for 12 years. She suffered from verbal dysplaxia, had several strokes, mild dementia and had three minor heart attacks. She also suffered from a broken hip, and was a constant fall risk. I was able to always know and feel what was needed by her, and performed whatever was necessary to make sure she was comfortable and felt loved. This included manicures/pedicures, bathing, grocery shopping, doctors visits, medicine administration, cooking with dietary restrictions, exercise routine management, housecleaning, errands, etc. But most importantly, I gave her my devotion, love, and companionship. Since and during that amazing 12-year journey, I have helped several other people when they needed it most. I have several references (some here online and others available upon request) and have found my passion is being a self-managed caregiver. I applaud you for reaching out to help your loved one here. It takes courage and truly shows that you care about them enough to try and keep them comforted in their home. More about me: I am a discrete and professional gay male. I say this right off to hopefully eliminate any concerns for me helping your loved one if they are female. I also am physically strong which works out great for helping transfer your loved one as needed. I have a clean DMV, I am punctual and professional, and, most importantly, I communicate effectively. I live alone and have two dogs (Yorkies). I enjoy the gym, eating out, and spending time with good friends. If you have read this far, I am very interested in the care giving position for your loved one. Thank you for your time. I hope to help your loved one soon. Jimmy
