Companion Care

Name: Elyse Nickname: Elle Age: 26 Location: Tampa Bay Education: FSU Bachelor Degree: BS in Marketing GPA: 3. 97 Occupation: Part-Time Realtor Has an incident in your life ever changed you forever? I used to take life for granted. Until one day, life as I knew it changed. It was raining when I pulled into the driveway. I rushed into the garage to find shelter. Instead, I was met by a puddle. I slipped, hitting the concrete hard. I fractured my pelvis in three places. I now live an active life and work with elders who are some of my dearest friends. I have a lot of compassion and sincerely care about them and seek to honor them and the Lord in all I do. I believe God has given me this experience so I may touch the lives of my elders and care for them. If it is God's will, I would love to be a companion to your mother, accompanying her on walks and reminding her to take her medications. My grandma had dementia. I encouraged her until the end of her days.

She is a very caring, kind person. She is very responsible, dependable and enjoys interacting with people. Elyse has endless patience. She has a huge heart for the elderly. Elyse cared for my mom by visiting her. Walking with her around my moms apartment complex, playing cards with her. Buying groceries and putting them away for her in fridge and cabinets. Assisted in helping my mom with her medications. Elyse was a great help to me and she made my mom feel loved and cared for.

After caring for my grandmother who had Alzheimer s and my grandfather who was suffering from lung cancer, I realized how important it is both for the individual as well as the family to have compassionate care. When a friend asked me to care for his mother who had a stroke, I took the opportunity andI changed my career. Since that time I have had the opportunity to care for so many wonderful people. Men and women, some just lonely and in need of a companion, some with Alzheimer s, dementia, MS, and various mobility issues. On the rare occasion, I have been there to reassure them by recounting stories they have told, and assuring them of what a wonderful job they did with their family, or building their business, taking care of their pet, etc., whatever they needed to hear to feel peace as they took their last breath. It s Important for them to know that older does not equal insignificant. Unfortunately, many of our elders feel like they don t matter. I see yours DOES to you. :)

Shelie has been helping my family for the past 10 months, and I don't know what our family would have done without her! My husband and I are living with and tending to our adult daughter while she is in intense medical treatment away from our home state. None of us cook much and our daughter has a very restrictive diet. Shelie is constantly looking for new appropriate recipes to make for her and us. She also will do the grocery shopping, errand running, general household cleaning and laundry, and anything else that will help us while we stay busy tending to our daughter as well as continue to work for our business from our home away from home. Shelie has been a blessing that has made our unexpected life path much smoother. There is always a smile on her face and joy in her heart. She is one of the most caring people I have ever had the pleasure to know! She has been our angel!
